Photography has performed something of a cuckoo act, and thrown Graphic Art out of this forum. So, the new Photography and Cameras forum is now the place for all photography related items, including advice on how to shoot, what to shoot, what to buy, and requesting feedback or just displaying shots that you've taken. And of course photography-related chat.

I'm going to start splitting obvious topics out of The Photography Threat any time now. Please give me a little bit of leeway if I get some of the topics a bit wrong, it's very hard to do perfectly! To kick-start the process, I will be closing The Photography Thread on Sunday night UK Time.
 
Awesome... Are we still going to have a general shots thread or should we make a new thread for each new set? Anyway, this is a great new addition, hopefully we'll get an active community posting here. All the gear/technical talk isn't going to get in the way of the photo threads too now that photography finally has its own section. :)
 
Believe it or not, this was being considered before your request, but we're glad it works for you.

I think we should make a new thread for each set of shots, although feel free to add to existing threads with shots that are on-topic, or things you've posted before. Let's just let it run for a while, and make modifications if it's not really going the right way.

I guess it's run its course though. Over 3600 replies and nearly 100k views. Not too shabby.


Here's an idea. Instead of posting a new thread every time we have a set of shots to post, why don't we all just create or own individual threads? "CDailey's photography thread" or "Cdailey's Photography" as an example, and then just post all of our shots in our individual threads. Each time we update, we could edit the thread title announcing the new photos. Would keep things a lot less cluttered IMO.

I kind of like the Photography thread because it was rather casual, had no formality or direction, but I guess that's looked down upon (Premo Chat). Having individual threads with more photographs sounds nice though.

It wasn't the chatting, it was that it had become too fast. Someone would post something and it would get missed. So some shots that bore review & comment would see nothing, or a question would go unanswered. And it's a nightmare trying to use the Search function in a 3,600 post thread.

Photography @ GTP is ready for its own forum.
 
Please note, I've started moving posts out of The Photography Thread. If there are any issues with the way I've moved your posts, please PM me.

It's a long and difficult task, which I will take pains to try to get as close to completely right as possible. Please bear with me.

You should be able to rename any threads I create on your behalf, but if you can't please let me know what the thread should be called, and I'll change it.

Obviously, please give me as much detail as you possibly can when PMing me your modifications.
 
awesome! at last a place to post all the stuff.

I'll have to say thanks to everyone that supported this idea and the mods that made it happen, a photo subforum is cool and we will be able to make it grow, I'm sure.

As such, I'll start posting my work soon, full support to this I said and that will it be.
