EGM rumor mill: PStwo, no HDD = no problem

I just read in EGM"s rumor report section that Sony might be releaseing a new bigger memory card for playstation 2, but not just a little bigger, a lot bigger, possibly to bring downloadable content to the new harddrive-less PStwo

I wouldn't be surprised and am shocked they havent already done this given how much Sony uses their "memory stick" technology in all of their various devices.

they dont put there magazine articals online that i know of... next time your out at a store stop by the magazine rack and pick up the issue with snake eater on the cover if you want proof

Didn't Sony originally project that they were going to use memory sticks before PS2 came out. Maybe they realized that they could actually now use them.

Considering the PSP utilizes the memory stick DUO and DUO pro and some games are supposed to beable to transfer saves from the portable to the home version and vice versa (Armored Core Formula Front & GT4:Mobile). I wouldnt be the least bit suprised to see a memory card for the PS2 that featured a slot specifically for a memory stick. I remember seeing a similar device before the launch of the PS2 but it never came to being but it looks like a possibility now.

Granted, that's from EGM's "Rumor Mill" section, but the Q-man is often right, he mostly reports information from developers/publishers/etc that simply hasn't been announced yet.

i think a USB 2.0 Based external HDD will be avaliable for the PStwo in the future.
since PStwo support USB 2.0 vs the regular PS2's USB 1.1

How bout more than one save on one memory card? One card owners would greatly appreciate it, if I wanna race a certain car and I have to use cheats to do it I don't want to have to delete my save to do it...

I can see this happening. But I don't really care. I try to keep a minimal amount of cars in my garage anyway. Well, atleast one of each car.

That image was the first thing on my mind when I saw the PSTwo... this external HDD (available on Japan, if i'm not mistaken) would be a good choice for the little beast...

Surely 64/128 MB or even a 1GB memory cark wouldn't be too hard. I know it would cost alot with PS2 memory cards are charged at £20 now just for 8mb, but I'm sure they could do a 64MB for £30.

As i understand it the inclusion of the network adaptor into the circuit board and casing of the new PStwo, means they removed the Connectors required to install any internal or external HDD, the only available Port would be the USB which would be much too slow to warrant for use with a HDD.
