Well, know that the automotive manufacturers are bringing back old muscle cars, do you guys think that the El Camino will return?

Nope. We already have the SSR, which is essentially a new-age ElCamino.

V8, RWD, full frame. Open bed.

I love the El Co, but i hope they dont bring it back. Every car the manufacturers are bringing back look like crap. Id rather see the El Co in classic form anyday of the week.

The El Camino isn't to return, though the Chevrolet SSR, particularly with its new V8, can be considered a rebirth. Though it's mainly aimed more at the buyers the Camaro and Firebird lost.

The Australian Utes are perhaps the more stylish types. But I don't think America will see any stylish Brute Utes like with our Aussie audience. And if there's going to be one, it will have to be an American brute with a so-so body design. If there is one, it will probably look like the front of last year's Saturn Ion, or maybe even the front end of a Chevy Malibu Max or whatever that ugly duckling is called. But I'd like to see one. Maybe even one in racing. If GM sees gold in Australia, I'm sure GM will want to take that in and expand the American auto market. If I guess if you want to "ute-up" a car, try to convert the Dodge Magnum into a pickup truck. It already has a mean growl, cool persona, and if that was a Ute, we may have an answer to Australia's Ute market.

Of course, I'm not like "screw the world, it's all about America" on this issue, but that's what I think.

Well GM is importing the Holden Monero(Pontiac GTO), and using the unibodies that Holden/HSV designed for the Cadillac CTS, STS, and SRX. So I wouldn't be suprised if GM imports the UTE as El Caminos.

GM have enough problems dealing with the workers union to have the GTO as it is, They were suppose to have our Statesman as a buick but the workers union complained too much. I cant see GM taking Holdens Utes and making them El Caminos in the near future.

I think the SSR is a lame attempt at a hot rod, then again it does have a V8. But still, it look's too funny.

SSR takes cues from older chevy trucks, but I dont think it wears them very well.

The old V8 it had was weak (even a T-bird was faster) but the new one (330 hp?) pulls off some pretty good times. That truck frame isn't going to ever allow it to come close to the Camaro, though.

What the ****? Everyone knows about the stupid "utes". It's a different market. They're not coming here anytime soon.

Don't forget the Brazilians as well. Here we call them "Light Pickup trucks". But the Australians are way cooler.

No, Omnis. They ALL do in Johnny's last post. I really like the Chevrolet Montana and that VW Ute. I bet that Montana looks better than if the Malibu Maxx was made into a ute version (horrible day).
