in the land of stupidity
Last saturday I saw "FutureCar" on Discovery channel. Subject: the fuel. Every good alternative for gasoline and diesel was covered.
At a certain point, the started talking about an American electric sportscar. It is invented in Silicon valley.

Can someone tell me what this car is called?

French version: http://www.venturi.fr/Venturi-Fetish.html

:)

According to the website, it is called the Venturi Fetish. It looks like it might be pretty quick, with a 0-60 or under 5 seconds.

Are you looking for the California-based Tesla Roadster?

Its actually one of my favorite cars to use in PGR4 (sometimes), and it looks like its rather popular with the automotive magazines as well (Motor Trend had a good review). Its on the final stages of pre-production, as the new models will start rolling off the line here in the next month or two...

To be exact, production will start march 17th.

Yeah, Tesla FTW... That Venturi retails for nearly 500K EUR (nearly a million USD). I think I'll take the "cheap" 100K USD Tesla. That, and I hear the Tesla drive is rather exhilarating...

Didn't like Fifth Gear ages let Sterling Moss drive a Venturi Fetish round Monaco to see if he liked it then they asked if he would buy one!

I think it looks better than the Tesla, why oh why do they all have to look like MX-5's!

What? I think the Tesla looks cool... I've actually got it as my background on my PC right now.

(Did I just hear the world explode? Brad has a "green" car as his background?)

Yeah they both look good but its like they are copying someone else, the Tesla looks like a cross between a Lotus Elise and a TVR.... It all looks a bit reserved, they need to have some radical styling to go with the radical powering of the car.

Ah, I understand what you mean now. And even then, if it did look like an MX-5, it isn't as though its a bad thing...

If I can recall correctly, the Tesla has been widely publicized for a while now.

The Venturi Fetish seems to be a bit of an unbecoming name in addition to its higher pricing. The concept of swift, attractive, 'green' and practical electric cars should catch on, however, when prices lower a bit.

The Tesla has been featured on various TV shows, magazines including Popular Science, and this month's issue of Automobile has an article which I haven't read yet. I believe it is in fact unrelated to the Fetish, which was slightly less publicized.

The Tesla will come to Europe.

€ 99.000 (excluding VAT). 21% in Belgium = € 119.790 :ouch:

Very old thread but reviving this thread is probably not a problem.

Last year I created a thread about the Veeco RT but it seems that nobody was interested or people aren't interested in what I have to say, so I had this thread removed.

Going through my old thread, I came across this one.

I'm very intersted in the Veeco RT. There are a few video clips about this car/trike on youtube.

The performance of this vehicle is very interesting. Last year I asked them if it was possible to make the Veeco RT accelerate faster than the 0-100km/h of 8 seconds. They said that it was possible to do something about the software.
Another way to "tune" this "thing" is to change the gearing of the rear wheel, which can make it faster in top speed or make accelerate faster.
