Yo Def
I have a unique question and I always go by the saying ''If there''s a will, there's a way''! Anyway, I want to build a racing sim seat with a christmas tree (Drag Light) that will work with the game. I know very little when it comes to computer wiring and what not. Is it possible and if so, would it be possible only on a PC?

I recently started to build my personal sim seat and my pop's, being a HotRod fanatic, asked me if this would be possible. I know many of you here are phenomenal when it comes to customization and electronics. Thanks for any advice.

Of course it is technically possible to make a christmas tree that works via usb. You need some soldering and programming skills to make it work properly I think though. The biggest hurdle here is probably that the game(s) won't support it even if you get the christmas tree working.

I was thinking that the most realistic approach would be to have it function for ''decorative'' purposes instead of in conjunction with said game.

If its not going to interact with the game its a totally differnet story. you can probably buy a christmas tree light somewhere at a novelty auto decor place, there no way go make it work with a game though.

Yeah, this is the best approach. Thought I'd ask and see if it was doable and if so, easy for someone like myself, but considering I know zero of programming, I will take the novelty approach.

Also after thinking about it, most drag strips in games I have played already have the lights so it would be redundant.

Thanks Logi, those give me some motivation. Will continue to look into it.

Have another question in relation to computer parts. I am building my own cockpit and I am placing the shifter in the same position and distance as in a real car, so the ps/2 connector they sent with it is the purple at about 6 inches long. I do have a green ps/2 that would be long enough.

My question, am I able to use the green? They have the same amount of pins, not sure if these are just color coded for easy identification or if there is a difference.

Thanks.

the pinout is the same for both cables.
the colors are there so that it makes it easy for us to locate the proper port on the wheel.
you are good to go.
