It was breaking news over an hour ago. Get with the times.

Seriously, I find it amazing that she was found alive and in apparent good health.

Excuse me for not being prompt.

Thank you Klostrophobic, I appreciate that greatly.

Really though, I'm suprised she was found. I thought she was dead. I'm glad she was found alive, to bad she had to live through her ordeal though. I know a middle aged freaky man who abducted a child wouldn't have kept his hands to himself. :(

Very surprising. [New Conference going on as I type this]. At least she was found alive though. :)👍

So, who is Elizabeth Smart? How was she abducted?

didn't they sentence a guy or a guy was waiting for trial about this and died in the jail before this happened. BTW, I prayed for her when she was abducted. It is a miracle that she is alive and well now. Those F#$%ers that did this should swing by their toes for the rest of their lives!

They'll probably send "Emmanuel" and his wife to the loony bin for the next 50 years.

Seriously, even though many are going to gush all over this, it truly is something to behold: A teenager that didn't purposely run away from home, and was returned safely and essentially unharmed. I admit that this scenario seemed hopeless, but she's okay.

Yeah, the pundits may say. "This is taking the nations focus away from real news...", but for once, it sure was refreshing to hear something other than impending war with Iraq or gas prices or smallpox and crap.

How often does good news top the headlines?

This shows the true incompetence of whichever police forces worked this case.

The biggest part is not that she was found less than 15 miles from her home, but that a countrywide all-points-bulletin was put out months ago for a green Saturn with a certain Utah license plate and nobody found that car despite that it was driven from Utah to West Virginia. They found it only when the man turned himself in to a hospital.

Stupidity.

I am ashamed to be an American citizen on a day in which the police cannot find a girl less than 15 miles from her home after the press coverage this case got. This is completely absurd - blame needs to be placed quickly.

Wasn't she actually found by some private citizens who thought they recognized "Emmanuel".

No. She was found when they were pulled over during a routine traffic stop and the cop noticed "Emmuel" (sp). When they questioned her she never admitted that she was Elizebeth Smart until the end of the interrigation. They think she may have been traumitized because she kept admitting that the two people that where in the car with her where her parents. When they were pulled over she was wearing a wig, vail, and sunglasses...

How hilarious. The FBI said that the efforts between the SLC police department and them was picture perfect. It is stupid that she was less than 15 miles from her home. She was there for 3 months of the almost 10 she was missing.

Well it was like an old Sherlock holmes novel. The police looked in all the suspecting places one would hide and it was right under their nose the whole time. Its not like we could have done a better job...

Yes. This caused the police to come out and stop them. It wasn't a traffic stop - they were walking down the street.

It was citizens, not the police, who got her in the end. What a joke.
