Me and my dad got into a fight the other day and he told me to get an emancipation and move in with my friend. My friends parents already told me I could move in if I wanted, I know my dads probally just trying to call my bluff, but I would like to see how far he'd let it go, and if I can get the emancipation I can move out, so either way it works for me. So how can I go about getting one?

You most likely have to prove that you are self-supportive. I don't think you can do this if you are going to be living with your friend's parents. Though, I guess that would be self-supportive in a way since you aren't living with your dad.

You'll have to file a petition with the court and the judge with decide whether you should be emancipated.

First off, look the word up. Emancipation is a noun meaning something along the lines of freedom or, in this case, a freeing. I have no clue what your dad meant, but I would imagine that it involves thinking about your side of the fight and then "freeing" your mind to think about it from his point of view. That's probably what he means...

Accually getting an emancipation means I'm basically on my own to find shelter and support my self. This happened in the Simpsons, Bart got emancipated and he had to support himself. He told me to get the emancipation after he said he was gonna make me pay rent and I said no i'll move in with dave (the friend) before I pay rent here.

You're basing the rest of your life on a Simpson's episode you saw?
