I apologize in advance if posting this is not allowed. But I figured since this community is extremely intelligent about technology, and pretty much everyone used HDMI with this game, someone may have a solution.

Long story short, I purchased a Emerson 32 inch flat screen HDTV last year on black friday. Everything has worked PERFECT until yesterday. I was playing GT5 and it just randomly cut out. After a few minutes of playing around with everything, I realized that my HDMI's were not working..no sound no visual. My regular Yellow/White/Red cords work fine on the tv. Just the HD does not work. I gave up after a while and tried to play GT5 on the regular quality and I wanted to puke. I love this game but I cannot play it on anything other than HD.

Someone save me :(

Need more info from you. Please do the following and report back:

1) Check if your PS3's HDMI output still works by testing it on another TV
2) Use another HDMI source (HD Cable Box, DVD player) and test your TV
3) If those work, swap HDMI cables to make sure the cable hasn't gone bad

1) Check if your PS3's HDMI output still works by testing it on another TV: Do not have another HDTV
2) Use another HDMI source (HD Cable Box, DVD player) and test your TV: Do not have another source to test it. No other HD dvd player or cable box.
3) If those work, swap HDMI cables to make sure the cable hasn't gone bad

Well, short of doing what has been suggested, there's no way anyone here can help you diagnose the problem. I will try my best however...

You say you tried a friends PS3 on your TV? Was this with the same cable you use on your PS3? If yes and it still didnt work, it would point to the cable being faulty. Solution: Buy a new cable

If it was a new cable, and a new PS3 (your friends) , and it didnt work it would suggest that the HDMI interface on your TV is at fault.

Meaning you have three options:

1: Buy a new TV
2: Get the TV fixed (as its a value brand tv, its probably not worth it unless its a cheap cheap fix)
3: Run your PS3 via component interface - still HD, just analogue audio. (Unless you use the optical out - but this would depend on whether you have the appropriate hardware to do so)

EDIT: It's a long shot, but in the event that somehow the PS3 has lost its display settings, you could try running your ps3 to the tv via the red/white/yellow connectors (composite), with the HDMI lead attached also. Go to the appropriate AV channel to view the PS3 in standard defintion mode, whilst there, you could try changing your PS3 to output via HDMI again, and then change the TV channel to the HDMI channel that the PS3 would output too. If that works you're sorted. If it doesn't then it points to a cable or tv hardware fault (see above).

Sounds to me like your HDMI port went bad on your TV.I've heard this happen a few times before.

You can still your use your component plugs correct? If so go out and purchase one of those HD component kits for your PS3.I had one for a while and finally decided to just go with HDMI cables. The thing is i can't really tell a difference in the picture so those component cables are pretty darn good.

*edit* also pick up a optical cable and hook it up directly to your Home theatre. The optical cable will support DTS and Dolby Digital sound.

Im heading over to my friends house down the st to hook it up to his xbox 360. Ill let you know exactly what i covered

After all that, I went over to gamestop and bought that component cord. All I have to say is THANK YOU Starfirebird. Exactly as what you described it to be. I honestly cannot notice the difference in quality at all! Cheap price of 25 bucks. Thank you so much man. You really were a big help.

Thank you to everyone else who tried to help as well. This is why I love this whole websites community. Everyone is here to help everyone else and its a great feeling. A random question about a TV gets answered within minutes. You guys are all awesome!

Contact tech support as soon as you can, the TV should still be under warranty if it's only a year old. There's no reason you should have to compromise and avoid using your HDMI if it's the TV's fault, the manufacturer owes you a repair or a new TV.

I agree with Takumi, never ever keep something damaged when you still have a warranty. If you are lucky, you might even get a better TV as replacement (if you can choose, choose a replacement, not a repair), because your old one isn't available anymore (unlikely, but you never know).

I know how you feel!!! I'm still in school, living at home, and had our living room's 3D bravia all to myself last week for an amazingly coincidental GT5 week!!! Since then, the Playstation has been relegated upstairs to my ten-years old Square Cube 27-inch round screen SD Matsui... With naked-eye visibe pixels... Watching the intro that time actually made me cry. :-(

For sure, see if they'll fix it or replace it, but start saving, because something's going to go bad again.

If you take all the electronics brands in the world and pick out the bottom .0005 percent, Emerson will be at the bottom .0005% of that stack.
