Hey guys I made a New PSN account today and I was just wondering how to enable the chat settings.
I am in no way trying to be a "point and say OVER THERE person". There is a TON of info in the online manual that the console does not explain at all. I hope you can find this very helpful. Even having a PS3 since 2007, I still look here for details. http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps3/current/

That manual tells you everything that YOU personally need to know about YOUR Playstation 3. You have demonstrated an unreceptive attitude. Why did I not look for you? Because I don't know precisely what you are doing.
You want to enable Chat? Add a friend and then chat with him or her.
Don't piss off people willing to help you.
But Dave was absolutely right, look here's the pic from above in a bigger version Just in case you still haven't noticed that it's from the very same manual he suggested):![]()
This is for voice chat, since it's hilarious to ask for a text chat activation.
I logged into my PSN account through my computer and went to the Account Management page then went to Edit Parental Control Setting and there you can choose to change the Restrict Chat with Other Users setting.
Hey guys....I am very sorry about the way I treated you and how rude I was, I shouldn't of treated you like that.
Cool 👍
I'm tellin' 'ya, you'll be amazed at what you find in that manual. Especially if you're trying to tweak audio or video settings.
As side note, I HIGHLY recommend Universal Media Server. It's based on the popular PS3 Media Server, except it runs much better.
Okay sweet as man. What is the Universal media Server for?
Streaming media from your laptop/desktop to your PS3 and other devices, even some DVR's like the Dish Network Hopper.
I did try that a while back but no hope in getting them to connect.
Thanks anyway.
Did you enable streaming on the PS3? I believe it's in the Network Settings section.
