So, half of the F1 season has gone by and i was just wondering if anyone has changed their predictions for who will win the championship and constructors championship.

At the beginning of the season i thought montoya would take it... obviously thats gona a bit pear shapped so im gunning for raikkonnen and Mclaren will take the constructors, Fisi will let renault down.

What do you think??

(btw please tell me if there has already been a thread like this, if so my bad.)

I don't remember seeing a similar thread. :)

It's a tough call. Alonso is very quick but so is Raikkonen. Looking at the current situation i would put my money on Alonso seeing as his car has proven to be more reliable so far. But the again, looking at the F1 Calendar i see more tracks that i think will suit the McLaren-Mercedes more. Tracks like Spa-Francorchamps, Interlagos and Suzuka. So i really don't know who is going to win the F1 championship this season. But i am a Kimi Raikkonen fan so i hope that he will win it finally. :)

Now that Montoya seems to have a fair hold of the car I think constructors will go to McLaren. The drivers championship is a tougher call though, I'd really like to see Kimi take it. Considering that Renault tends to drop off at the end of a season, and that McLaren tend to pick up I'd say Kimi has a very good chance, it will be very close though 👍

Kimi has a good chance at it but with the gap Alonso has on him, and the reliability issue of the merc engines, logicly youd have to go Alonso although its going to be a tight one.
Constructers is all but Mclarens, as long as Kimi can make ground on ALonso in the drivers and Montoya tryes to get some consistancy and stay in the race until the end it will give Mclaren a very good chance

I think either Kimi or Alonso. As long as Kimi doesn't ahve any more engine problems, hes fine.

i think kimi will dominate what is left of the races but stil lend up short. alonso just is sitting on to obig of a lead right now, and with there being absolutely no other cars able to run with the mclarens and renaults, the points are going to go away. he can sleep his way to a podium finish the rest of the year.

and i think mclaren is obviously the favorite to take the constructors champ. both of their cars are quicker than alonso, and montoya finally seems to be comfortable. he's lost multiple podiums this year due to mechanical issues.

overall, its going to be a boring finish.

westwood
overall, its going to be a boring finish.

I wouldn't say that for the drivers championship.... especially with the tyre and engine rules

If there are no more technical failures, then I think Kimi will take an extremely close championship. that's what i'd like to believe, anyway.

Not sure about the constructor's but renault have a pretty hefty lead. if kimi can win the driver's champ then mclaren shouldn't have a problem with the constructors as JPM shouldn't be doing too bad, and most likely better than fisi, at that.

Right so everyone has pinned down either Alonso or Raikkonnen to win the driver's c'ship, (no big surprise there) and either Renault or McLaren to win the constructors. What about the rest of the teams?? I think it will be close between ferrari and williams for the 3rd spot (even though williams are having trouble with their areo package right now) i would put BAR into the scenario too but since they only have 9 points right now, i dont see them gettin anywhere further than 6th IMO just too much of an points difference. Red Bull and Sauber will have an intresting battle in the later races i think, with Sauber just getting infront. The usual 2 suspects will be at the back with Jordan ahead.

So, i think the constructors will finish: 1st McLaren (just), 2nd Renault, 3rd Ferrari, 4th Williams (if they sort the areo problems out), 5th Toyota (possibly 4th if williams mess up), 6th BAR, 7th Sauber, 8th Red Bull, 9th Jordan, 10th Minardi.

Kimi will come close, but Alonso will prevail. Renault will not resort to their typical season ending ritual of failing to perform. But, I do see Fisichella completely abandoning Alonso, that tool. He knows he's finished, so why should he bother to risk anything? I had hopes for him, but they're completely gone now. He'll need to come in first, or second behind Alonso, in the next three races to vidicate himself. I don't see him doing that.

If McLaren can 1, 2 the majority of the races left then Kimi has it, but if Alonso can get 2nd regularly then I don't see Kimi getting it. Kimi's championship really depends on Montoya stepping up to the plate and helping Kimi win it.

I dont think Williams have a chance to fight ferrari for 3rd, they have been battling out of the points against the likes of suaber and Red Bull the last couple rounds. As recent as Monaco and Nurburgring though it seemed like they may give a few a hurry up in both the drivers and manufacturers.

alonso will hold on for the championship, if alonso wins the next 4gps schumie wont be woprld champion:p

come on fernando

If Alonso plans on winning another race this season he'll have to learn to drive an F1 car with his knees.

He already can. In fact, that's how he drove for the entire race at the British GP. Let's see Kimi do that! :p
