Honda has announced that it will cease the production of Integra/RSX by end of July. Integra/RSX are built in the Honda's Suzuka plant in Suzuka, Mie Prefecture. While the annual sales in its' peak had reached 73,000 in Japan, the figure had dwindled down to 3,000 as of late. It is also exported to the U.S., Canada and Australia, but production of the Japanese models will end in June, and export models in end of July.
*This is an edited(shortened), translated Yomiuri article by me.

This really sucks. First the Celica and now this. If Honda replaces it with some kind of poseur mobile (like Toyota and the Scion tC) than I've lost all faith in them.

The Japanese news article did not touch on the replacement, but one article I found on RSX said the coupe version of TSX(Euro Accord) might take over that "entry" sport model spot.

I don't know about the area you guys live, but around here, RSX sales has been super slow. I knew just one girl who had one. Only other person I know who had one's actually danoff from here.

Damn, I really liked those Integra's. My cousin's got a 1995 Integra I belive, probably the last Integra my family will get. Wasn't the RSX farly new?

Wasn't the RSX farly new?
I don't think so. I'm pretty sure it's been out around three years by now. Almost due for redesign.

Well I look at it this way:

- Sales have been really slow
- The car is out of date
- The competition is WAY better

Sure, its the end of a historic model, but weve got to move on...

It just went through a minor update a year ago-ish.

Competition is better?
It just won a comparo against the SRT-4, WRX, and Cobalt SS. It may not have won if the GTI was there, though. And the new Si is close to it's performance.

Okay, not all of the competition is better. But, cars like the GTI, GLI, Mustang GT, etc. all perform much better generally for less money.

I don't know about comparing it to Mustangs. I've always though of Integras as sportier and more luxurious Civic. Since I like small cars, that was a cool thing. Seriously, I'd love to see a "civic-sized" Bentleys and Ferraris, too.

And is performance everything?
Anyway, they ARE most likely bringing back the Celica, and no doubt this too. I mean, the nameplates are gold! Would be nice to see a new Civic-based Integra.

I for one am glad. The Integra was ruined by ricers and the RSX is WAY too overpriced to be any good. I hope Honda makes a good decision on it's replacement. I'd like to see a coupe based on the Fit platform. :sly:

Screw them and this decision. And just because they weren't making enough money. They make plenty elsewhere to support these cars, and they actually are a main image-maker for Honda and Acura sportiness. Not to mention the current models are some of the best looking cars on the road. I wonder what'll come after the cars that made VTEC what it is today.

This is quite interesting news for me since the RSX/Integra are one of those commonly used cars for import lovers to play "dress up" and now its coming to an end. :indiff: I can't really think of any other Honda or Acura car that can replace such a popular car.

I just saw a nice blue Type R like the one you posted above just as I went out after my last post. Looked great, sad to see them go especially without a replacement.

This is kinda sad, but I JUST realized that the current gen Integra doesn't have 4-door sedan version. I would have really liked that.

With the Civic going up in size over the past ten years, the four door Integra became redundant. Actually, sad to say, it's been redundant for a long while now, as the Civic Si filts the bill very well... well, except from a design standpoint.

That's the curse of model drift... with the Civic being the "bread and butter" model, it naturally had to follow the class norm... which was more space, more space, more... whoops, getting awfully close to the Integra...

Hence, in comes the Fit (close in size to original Civic) and out goes the Integra (close in size to new Civic)... sad day indeed. :(

I hate to see it go. I really liked those cars and considered an RSX for a time when I was in college but after a test drive it wasn't for me. (my legs are too long)

While the death of the Integra is indeed sad, the RSX/Integra just didn't have the street cred the Integra had. however, check the look of the new Civic Si, and compare it to the RSX....

anyone notice how similar the shapes look?

Wow!! My car is dying! :(

I still love mine. Oh well, I guess everyone else just has to cope now that they can't get a new one. I'm really shocked about this because I feel like I see them everywhere. I remember when I bought mine they were saying that they were selling so fast they couldn't keep them in stock.

Crazy.

I guess niky and jim is right. They are very similar. I was thinking that Acura could sell their version of Fit, but I like how Onikaze is thiking outside the box.

Did you wreck it again? :p j/k

First NSX (replacement on the way though), then RSX... Honda seems to be leaning towards Toyota attitude: No sport, no fun.

Who was it that compared the RSX to the new Civic Si? Jim Prower? I like the Si, don't get me wrong, but it's still a Civic. Everyone has a Civic. Even the name RSX or Integra sounds stronger and faster and less girly. Yes, I know the Si is a bad little car and can do some dirty deeds, but it just isn't as cool to say "I've got a Civic Si." Maybe they could lop off the Civic and just call it the Si? I'd still take an RSX any day. Oh, and I think it looks better, too. Faster and meaner.

This is the same consequence as Prelude
because of prelude vs integra
now integra vs civic

I guess Honda should consider making a new sports car with 3 litre v6
a little better than accord coupe, maybe a TSX coupe or something
or should try a small sports car in Fit level, maybe a new beat?

Are you seriously saying you are placing the RSX in the same group as the Mustang GT..?

Well, the Mustang GT is a lot faster, and doesn't suffer as much understeer, but the RSX has a really nice interior and uh...it's better on gas?

Pricewise they are very close.

I'd like to see Honda do something awesome, like...make a hardtop RWD sports coupe with that 3.0 V-6, or better yet the Hybrid DOD V-6.

Would it happen? No, they are making an SH-AWD Accord coupe apparently, which should be neat, but it won't please RWD purists like me.

A new Beat would be nice, especially if they actually sold it over here.

You bet your ass that I am. If they are priced similarly, why not compare them? They both seat atleast four, have two doors, and have a sporting attitude twards them...
