I'm currently on Level 26, trying to grind to 30 to get the X1. Just doing the 4-hour endurance with the roadsters and crap, and it's pretty damn boring.

What are your methods to pass the time while doing the endurance races?

I prefer to have a small snack beside me on a table, with water while I get thirsty (shown at the pic below). Maybe every hour I'll take a break to stretch my legs, or pleasure myself.

I have, on the right of the cockpit, a desktop computer. So I have the YouTube playlist of Mock The Week on autoplay so I can be entertained while doing 1 minute laps of Tsukuba for 4 hours. Just in-case I use that playlist on the 24h Nurburgring, the total time of the playlist is about 25 hours. :D

Feel free to share your methods~

Mock the week, great idea.. i'm at the same level and quit the 4hr race after 10 laps, just plain and simply couldnt be bothered

havent got there yet. but it depends. on the old Gran Turismo 4 i did a 24 hour race around the nurburgring. basically pure determination to do it. Two weeks later i found out there was this mode called b spec which drove your car for you. very dissapointed. anyway i continuously did the same race to earn rep and money by using my own background music for racing. think of games to amuse you while your playing. like read the writing on the race track at the nurburg ring. or try beating your best time

Use a slower car so the AI can gave you a fight.

This.

Check out the GT4 200 A-spec points sub-forum. There are guys there picking worse and worse cars from a PWR perspective and winning the enduro's by mere seconds in some cases. If you're always battling or having to modify your pit strategy as you go, then the time goes a lot quicker...

I haven't done that enduro yet, but I am currently level 28. Working on the Extreme Dream GT Championship Indy 10 Lap Event. I have some Soju and Green Tea on my desk, and I have The Office on my laptop. Works wonders, then 5 hours have gone by HAHA.

what is mock the week? how do i get a playlist of it going?

Mock the Week is a topical celebrity panel show in the UK. Look it up on Youtube if you want to watch clips of it.

On topic, you can use a slower car if possible or try to beat your fastest lap time throughout the race, which is what I tend to do when I get bored.

The first thing you need to do is lose the cockpit setup. Grabe your DS3 and play it like it's meant to be played, laying sideways on the sofa! At least you'll have the option of changing positions...

I play in my room. My PS3 and computer are pretty much right beside each other and I have a dual monitor setup. Usually for doing series I have my Pandora on on one monitor while I race on the other. I have been grinding the Indy 500 (on my fifth one right now) so I throw a movie on to watch while doing it. Helps pass the time. Also I take a break about a every half hour to pee/get coffee/pleasure myself etc. and usually at the half way mark I'll go smoke a cigarette and check the forum then get back to it.

This.👍

It gets boring real quick when you know your going to win by 15+ laps.

This whole grinding thing is a major design flaw in this game. I already know I'm not gonna be able to get through it. I'm a dad with a job so I have limited gameplay time anyway. Once it becomes weeks of doing the exact same thing over and over again for 2 hours or so a night I'm pretty sure I'll have to put down this game and play something else. The problem is the XP's. The amount goes up as you level up and for a while you can earn more and more with more advance events but at some point this progression just stops and you're left with this stupid stuff. I have some vague hope they'll fix this with more content, cash/xp for online races or some other way to keep things fun while leveling up but for now it doesn't look good really. I'm pretty sure I'd even rather pick up Forza 3 again and finish my career in there than doing this mundane stuff for that long...

Praying this will somehow get fixed.

It's funny, I couldn't wait to unlock the first endurance race at Level 25. Everything up to that point is just fooling around, as far as I'm concerned.

Of course, I did do 24 hour races in GT4 at least 6 times, maybe more. (I'm talking doing all 24 hours myself, no B-spec help...) As well as doing every other endurance race at least twice.

LOL I just had a memory flash... I'm a truck driver, and I had my PS2 in the truck (still do, but no TV any more) and I'd fire up GT4 and let a B-spec enduro race run while I was driving down the road... I'd check it at lunch, and any time I'd stop for a break. Good times...

That's awesome. I am starting my truck driving career in 3 weeks. I am teaming up with another driver so, i may buy a ps2, cuz i already have the GT4. Thanks for the idea, hehe.

I'm going to get some friends around and let them take turns with each pit stop. I can,t believe you can't use B-SPEC in Enduros.

What i did was raced 1 hour, got 5 laps ahead then the fun began. I put my comfort hards on and drifted until the tires were black, then put on some fresh racing tires and played bumper carts just trying to hold up the A.I in anyway necessary driving backwards, reversing, doing the pit mininova and raming them upto the last 30mins just making sure i was a few laps ahead and did some time trialing :P.

I'm not going to risk 4 hours of driving with a slow car only to lose. I run the best possible and blow them away.

On the Roadster enduro I pulled over with 30+ minutes left and browsed these here forums!

This is a good tactic. I'm going to get a nice fun car, do some time trials, and then some napkin maths on how many laps I need before I can pull over and let the clock run out.

after the 1st 20 laps im probably a few laps ahead and whenever my tires start to get worn i would pull over on the straight... lay 2 massive lines of rubber down followed by some donuts.. somehow burnout smoke really seems to clear my head and im ready to go again:p
i also find myself getting some really evil revenge plots going for the stupid AI cars
at this point its not the real driver simulator but more bumper car mania :trouble:

Same "couldn't be bothered" applies to the whole game really. This "grinding" crap worked 6 years ago when there weren't many alternatives, but now the same old fomula is wasted on todays gamer.
