Endurance Prize Cars.

Anyone here ever become frustrated getting the cars you want from the endurances? I remember specific times becoming soo infuriated trying to get the Stratos, and the GT90 in my first few playthroughs back in 2000-2002. It seemed my copy of the game hated me or something. I would think that those cars had just rare chances of being dropped or that you had to beat the endurance in a hidden time limit to get the rare collectors car. I remember a rumor back then that one had to beat the Seattle Circuit enduro in 1 hour and 59 seconds or less to get the GT90... which of course turned out to be false.

But luckily on this playthrough I'm getting all the nice prize cars instead of the rally cars repeatedly. It must be luck or the cars I'm using. I used to use cars that outclassed competitions all the time back then(which is boring to me now.. I don't know how I could stand always winning by a mile back then never having challenges!?) But now I use cars appropriate to the race and I always seem to get the 'rarer' cars... it's weird.

For instance...

Trial Mountain Enduro( I know there is only one prize car but still) I 'wanted' a challenge so I took a lightly tuned Mazda Miata C-Spec(Sports muffler and stage 1 WR) and won by 2-3 or 4 laps lol! This car sounds great and handles like a go kart I could not believe how nice it was stock and it looks lovely.

Seattle Circuit I used a Cobra 427 with sports tires, semi-racing muffler, stage 1 wr, and other moderate tunes and won the Shelby Series 1 by 2 laps and got the GT90 on my first attempt yay!!!

Apricot Hill. I ended up accidentally totally outclassing the competition. I took a moderately tuned TVR Speed 6 with sports tires and beat the competition to easy and ended up getting the Stratos first try.

Laguna Seca I took a fully modified Lister Storm V12 on Medium Tires and spanked the compition being GT500 JGTC cars only. This car is actually nice when your used to it... which after 30 laps I was so accustomed to the car I was pulling 1:14:XXX laps with a best lap of 1:13:427! I got the 1999 3000GT LM on my first attempt which was awesome considering I never managed to get it before???!!

I'm hoping my luck continues this way especially on the Rome enduro which I'll take my great little RE Amemiya RX-7 or Atlantique 400GT to hopefully be challenged. I did manage to beat the Laguna Seca all stars race with it against a GT-One in 4 laps so I'm sure I will manage at rome.

{EDIT}Ok, I'm doing the Rome Enduro with a fully modded and fully awesome Venturi Atlantique 400GT on medium tires.

Raised Spring rates to 16.8F 14.9R Ride Height was lowered, Chamber raised by .3 F,R, rear stabilizer put to 4. Changed gears, and maximized Down Force and lowered all LSD's to 1 as usual. It handles like a dream, I'm pulling 1:18:XXX-1:20:XXX laps and the 1999 Toyota GT-One is keeping a general 9 seconds behind me. I just pitted in for the first time at the end of lap 20 then the GT-One passed me but it pitted in at lap 21's end. So I'll adjust my pit in to every 21 laps then. It is really fun and this car is seriously becoming one of my faves. I hope it unlocks the Altezza LM for me though.

{Edit # 2}Noooooooo! I Just got the lame and useless 97' Corolla Rally car!!! WHY! From the longest enduro(is very traumatized.) I don't think I can do this race for a while again if ever. I already had a heck of a challenge with the 400GT and it will be hard to repeat a fun race like that with the risk of still getting the Corolla again.

{Edit # 3} Got the Corolla again damn it! Did it 2 times in a row 2nd time with Racing Modded Lotus Elise GT-1(car is soooo fast pulling 1:11:XXX laps with a best of 1:10:326!) I'm traumatized from this enduro and will never attempt it again!

Maybe GT2 rewards you for having a challenge. Try something other than a Lotus, maybe a Cliio 24V would be perfect.

I never tried the enduros on GT2, but worth a shot.

I'm 99% sure it's random. I remember someone (here on GTP, I believe) who wanted to get the Escort from the Seattle enduro, but always got the GT90 regardless of driven car or completion time.

Thanks you both I guess it must be random as I have been bringing appropriate cars I'd figure. So I'll just most likely forget about that :crazy:Altezza LM and just finish up the game. I hope along the way I at least get the :tup:1997 R390 Race Car and especially the :tup:Cerbera LM or at least one of the two then I'd be satisfied but not happy.

I would rather move onto GT3 again with my steering wheel set-up;) than repeat endures on this game constantly.:yuck:

This game is nice and all but not the random car crap!:banghead:

Splendid! I got the Altezza last afternoon driving with my RE Amemiya RX-7(easy car to fall asleep with handles too good!) I also did the All-Night Stage 5 Enduro in an awesome fully tunned racing modded Nissan R32 V-Spec II it won like cake ahead of the GT-One by 1.5 laps lol! I got the Evo VI Rally would have preferred the Cerbera but I can live with this.

Next target is my Last Enduro Grande Valley

I just got my fifth Impreza in a row from the Grand Valley 300km. Stupid game has a death grip on that '97 R390 race car. :banghead:

I've always suspected that certain cars were "weighted" to be less likely to appear, though obviously I never had any way to prove that. It's possible there's some hidden RNG shenanigans there, but I reckon it really is just dumb luck.

Reading some of the old conspiracy theories about how to get certain cars is quite entertaining though, I'd forgotten how elaborate some of them were!

Yeah, there's no data for weightings, it's literally just a list of four car IDs (with 3 of them blank for events with one prize). GT3 added the ability to win cars in a specific colour, but still no weightings.

Ah, I see. So it really is just a coin flip then! That makes those old theories even funnier then, knowing that.

There are different color prize cars in GT2 as well. Two of my five Impreza rally cars are black instead of blue.

Yes, but the colours in GT2 are randomly selected from those available for the car. What GT3 added was the ability for events to award one specific colour only - for example the Beginner FR Challenge in GT3 awards a Silvia K's, always in Two-Tone Green, never any other colour.

Ah, I see what you mean. Like the pink Vitz/Yaris, right?

Thanks to that, in GT4 PD was able to optimize the cars by having special colors be the last color of the car, but hidden, instead of having standalone cars that take up space on the disc

Some years ago I saw at some website that you need to use some specific car nationality, like the Apricot Hill Endurance to win the Stratos you must use a britsh car.

The only two endurance races I found something like this is Apricot Hill and Seatle.

As I said at Apricot you must win with a britsh car to get Stratos, and at Seatle to get GT90 you must win with an american car.

I guess for the others endurances races there is this kind of condition. But I couldn't find it now a days.

The game does not track or even list the nationality of each manufacturer, and prizes are awarded at random.
