Endurance race - inability to pit????

I was in the middle of doing a 24hour La Sarthe endurance race (doing about 1-2 hours every night) when at around the 15 hour mark, when i loaded up the game from previous save, the car just went straight through the pits. Bit weird i thought but carried on racing. Two laps on and overtook an AI car going VERY slowly but thought nothing of it. Within the next two laps again im passing numerous cars going very, very slowly and it dawns on me that they have all run out of fuel. Haha, Fools!

So, my guage is getting low so i go to the pits and the car goes STRAIGHT THROUGH without pitting. NOOOOOOO! Did another lap VERY SLOWLY and made it to pits again, but sure enough, staright through again! After 2 more laps doing 79kph i'm overtaken and now 5min 50secs behind 1st place before the Judd car runs out of fuel too. Now NOBODY has fuel and we are all doing 79kmh taking 10mins to do 1 lap!

Going in the back of the pits doesn't wake the pit up and repeatedly going in pits doesn't work. In a HUGE rage i quit the game with the intention of throwing the game in the oven and eating it but i decide to load it up and just do 4hour endurance races to get the 4 levels to a-spec level 40 heaven. Said game loads up and low and behold it loaded the previous save game from the 15 hour mark! WEIRD!!!!!

Has anyone else had this strange problem happen to them?

I had a good laugh out of that. No idea what could've caused it though. When the game reloaded at the 15 hour mark did it work properly?
 
Seems to have. I raced for approx. 1 1/2 hours (with the ability to pit) and saved game at around 16 hour.

When we were all doing 79kmh i did three laps to see how much i was catching up on 1st place.... turns out over a 10min lap it's 8 seconds. STUFF doing that for another 8 hours! . . . . Proceed to QUIT GAME. Haha!

P.s. Doing 79kmh in an X1 for 50 mins is not fun!
