I really hope that endurance races stay (pretty sure they will)

What I'd really like to see though is the re-implementation of adjustable laps in arcade mode. In GT2 you could set number of laps from 1-99 for both two player and against AI. In GT3 you could only do this for two player.

As I love endurance races I really hope that in GT4 they allow you to adjust the number of laps in arcade mode to facilitate the option of racing any car on any track for an endurance race.:D

I wholeheartedly agree. :) Except the limit of 99 should be extended to something like 500 or 1000. *evil laugh*

Could do a '500 Laps of Motorsports Land' race then. :D

Wow - thought my thread was gonna be totally ignored as no one answered it since this morning:rolleyes:

Glad to see I'm not the only endurance fanatic!:D

and while we're on the subject - why not a 48 hour endurance without the ability to save or pause ;)

I will play your **'** Caligula, why did you choose that name? Endurance Lickurances.

Nah, that too tame how about the Rally of Paris-Dakar, that will pull your eyeballs out. :D

I like the endurance races, but I don't like the frequency of the pitstops. The tyres wear out to quickly, and very unrealistically.

I can understand it for the shorter races. But if you're having a race over multiple hours, I'd like the tyre wear be realistic.

And also different cars would wear their tyres out at different rates.
A sports car would wear tyres at a different rate to a family estate car for example.

With the rate of tyre wear in GT3 being in GT4, you'd have to make a pit stop every lap on the 'ring!

well hopefully gt4 will have more realistic tire wear.

I like that idea of a 2 player endurance..Who can last the longest??:D

Not quite, unless you used super soft's which would be stupid. You could get three or four laps from a harder pair. I do hope the tyres wear more realistically this time though, they should keep the super softs as 2 or 3 lap tyre's so they would act more as qualifying tyre's but make the difference beween soft's and hard's greater so hard'ss could last 20 laps and medium's 10-12 ect.

Super hards lasted about 20 laps for most of my cars in GT3 I found, which seemed unrealistic because the only place I can think of where cars pit so frequently would be Le Mans anymore.

as long as there isn't any race on da ring that is over 110 laps ill be happy.

I hope you were kidding about the "48 hours with no save or pause" deal.

To me, the only chance of having more laps on a course is if the course is an oval or a high-speed track with few turns. Like in "Daytona USA's" PC Version, the "endurance" race on the oval was about 80 laps running less than 30 minutes. But I think endurance races shouldn't be TOO long. I mean, do you want to give people an idea as to how endurance racing is, or do you just come up with LONG races like in "Le Mans 24 Hours?" You could save, but at Road Atlanta and Le Mans, you could race for as long as 100 minutes and 240 minutes for the respective tracks. Haven't raced the Le Mans mode in a while, but for both tracks, I am running 10 hours for Petit Le Mans and 24 hours for Le Mans.

I think Tokyo R246 could have been shortened. Maybe 50-75 laps, but that 100-lapper was as long as an American Le Mans sprint race (2hr, 45 min).

And since GT is about car control and endurance, to not see endurances would be a shame. I mean, why have Le Mans race cars when all you run are races no longer than one hour? Realistic endurances would be a serious thing to look into. You don't want a long race on a very slow track where one mistake can cost you bigtime.

I say to appeal to both audiences, the causal gamer and the endurant gamer. Make races last as long as an hour, all the way up to two hours and change. I don't know anyone who's raced non-stop and interruption free for more than 2 hours... no wait. THREE hours. You're playing a game, not racing in real life, so make it easy on yourself to race and get back with your life. That's all, I'm done. Peace out.

I've played games for quite a long time at a sitting before, but never GT, I don't have to concentrate so hard on GT so I get lazy eye and wind up with double vision.

I don't think anyone meant for the true enduro lengths to be in the Endurance mode, simply to be something we can fiddle with for online play.

Btw - nice to see you again John, hadn't seen you start a thread in almost 5 days, I was getting worried! ;)

mmmmm long story. To be totally honest (I aint going into details here though), I moderate a forum which has 90% female members and used the name there as a wind up (cause I like to keep them in order. I've just used the same name on every forum since.

ROFL:lol:

If I can race the endurance races with close competition I won't mind doing long ones.

I just didn't like doing a 100 lap race and being several laps ahead of the 2nd place guy. I hope the AI is greatly improved so that they can actually drive at the same pace as you and don't pit every 3 laps.

Looking through several vids, they probably will be able to keep up,unless you tune your car to the max.

well, i was onna broing this up in another thread, but if gt4 is able to get the nordschliefe in the game, surely they can get le mans, i mean it's shorter in length then the nurburgring, so surely theyd be able to get it in.

anyway on the subject of endurance races, if le mans is included, a 24 hour race would be far too extreme, so how about the next best thing, the le mans 1000km, like in real life. oh, and one more thing, if they cant get the full le mans circuit in the game, they can still get the bugatti circuit in anyway.

All the On-Line Races i set up have a minimum total distance of 1000 km's. Most of the races take about 6-7 hours to do and i have no trouble doing them in one sitting (with an hour/half an hour for lunch usually and a couple of hours (?) to write down each lap time).

Bring on the long races! :D

I suppose that may be long enough... That'd be over 2000k.
