I was doing an endurance race with medium tires, and I was pitting about every ten laps or so. It seemed that the other cars were pitting once every 20-25 laps. I was just wondering how often you should be changing your tires.

Hey, I forgot to ask earlier, is there a set of tires that is most recommended foe enduro races?

it is recommended that on endurance races you put the tyres that last the most... that way you get the most laps out of your tyres and don't waste so much time in the pits.

Which race were you doing? Which car were you using?

And Diego, in case you don't know this; GT2 didn't program tires as well as they did in all the other GT's. A set of Super-soft tires will last just as long as a set of Hard tires in GT2.

I was using an RUF CTR2 Sport on the S.S.R. 5 all nighter.

Well that's a no-brainer. The RUF hasn't got the extra downforce necessary to keep it from sliding around, and weighs several hundred pounds heavier than a Toyota GT-1 or Nissan R390, even if you give the RUF a Stage 3 weight redux. It's also got a Rear engine.... The engine, weight, and lack of downforce is all a recipe for imprecise handling (when compared to any of the GT-1 or LM cars you're up against.) I mean, I believe it's possible to win against these other beasts in a RUF--I even tried it once at Rome 2 hrs and came in 2nd or 3rd. It's possible, but it's not easy.

I've done the SSR5 enduro in several cars...I remember one of the first times I tried it, I was in a Corvette Grand Sport with the red, white & blue race-kit  but my win didn't come easy because the Grand Sport weighs so much more than the best AI cars in this event. The Toyota GT-1 is a killer down that straight...I couldn't keep up with it, so I basically had to out-corner the GT-1....in a Corvette! That's asking alot!

Anyways, I congratulate you for not using an Escuseo. To try this race in a RUF shows you got some balls.

In GT2 you can run super-soft tires in an enduro if you want becuase they'll last just as long as other tires. Like I said, they didn't program decay-rates correctly in GT2. Personally, I'll typically use lesser tires, whatever keeps me running with the lead opponents. I hate getting too far ahead..it's boring

Trail Mountain: I use Normals here

GV300 KM: depends on the car...typically I'll use Hard or Mediums, but with cars that handle poorly I've used Softs

Seattle: Sport tires or Hard tires :) gotta love sliding around with all that Detroit Iron!

Rome, Laguna, SSR5: depends on the car. Super-lite cars like the del Sol LM can run on stock (normal) tires, for instance, and still win too easily. But when I raced my Corvette Grand, I believe I was on super-softs at all these races, or a combo of softs & super-softs, and I had my hands full.

Congrats on winning with a corvette. That had to really hard. I've never much cared for vettes personally. And thanks for the tips. I almost won the race. I was 2 laps from the end with the gt-1 on my tail when my tires completely went red. I figured if i pitted, I would get killed, so i tried to tough it with red mediums. I lost the lead on the last corner on the last lap and lost by about 3.5 seconds. I was so pissed because I had been leading the entire race before that.:grumpy: Well thanks for the tips and compliment i'm going to try again tomorrow

That seems to be what I remember...I was leading towards the end of Rome 2 hours in a RUF Porsche but I my tires were going bad. Then the question rises: do you pit and lose your lead? Or do you stay on? I don't remember what decision i made, but probly said "ah...at least I'll still get a fair chunk of money if I pit".
