Hi all,
I know there are several threads asking what car to use for each individual endurance events. However i wanted to get some clean advise.
I have a team of 3 about to tackle the Tsukuba 9hr and Nurb 4hr events the Easter break.
We don't necessarily want to win but have a fun and difficult race where strategy and consistency will be the victor.
What car do you recommend for these two events remembering they have the same "typical opposition" for both.
If you hate enduro's and just want to say use the x2010 or something don't bother. I have nothing against you but i don't want to do it like that.
My initial thoughts were the Audi touring car, Ferrari 458 ( i did a quick test for this one and i think it will be too fast for what we want), Viper or of some sort.
We want a difficult car to drive where mistakes can be made. I would like to give the RUF a go but i don't have one.

Try classic racing cars those are always fun.
 
Look at the Typical opponents HP and pick a car that's 75HP less then give it a 3-4 lap test trial in the endurance race. That'll tell ya.

I have checked typical opponents and wanted more input as to a challenging car to drive which will typically be midfield and up front with tuning and consistent driving.
 
I did the Nürburgring 4hrs in an BMW M3 CSL. Turned out to be a little bit too easy, since I've tuned it to 505 PP and put RS on it, but with a more moderate tuning and SS tyres it should be quite competitive - depending on your skills, obviously.

FR design makes it a little bit more difficult than a 4WD car, but I would agree that a RUF is probably a good car for a challenge. Or maybe a McLaren F1 with SH? ;-)

What surprised me the most about the Nürburgring Enduro though was the pit strategy of the AI - in Laguna Seca, Grand Valley and Tsukuba I always pitted a lot more often than the AI, but at Nürburgring, I managed to stay out 6 laps while the AI pitted after 5. I did not have the feeling I drove very conservatively, either.

i'm now considering the F40 as a challenging option. My Bro who will be driving with me is a pretty confident sim racer so will be good for him to test it out.
Will keep checking used car lot for the RUF in the interim. although there wont be much racing before the weekend.
 
I used the RE Mazda RX7 from the (RE) New Car Dealer for Tsukuba. It's got lower HP than the cars in the race and you can race it on SS or Racing tires.

The other cars will pass you on the straights, but you can run laps a little quicker than them.

It's a premium, so you can run the race in cockpit view too.

My advice is to run a couple of laps in it to see if you like it, and try different tires to see what you like.

Depending on how hard I was running laps, I got a low of 41 laps and a high of 70 laps on a set of tires.

I used the Nissan Silvia RM in the Nurburgring 4 hour and it was fun. The car handles great, it's comparable in Hp and performance to the competitors, and you can run it on SS or RS tires.
