I suspect this question has been covered before, but I searched (quickly) and didnt find it.

Just wondering if a car engine will be damaged (horspower wise) if entered into an Enduro.

Was thinking of entering my 787b into the Lemans 24hr B-spec in the hope that it might increase horsepower slightly after an oil change after the enduro. But then was concerned that such a logn race may actually cause it to lose horspower.

Anyone?

Engines gain horsepower up to 200-220 miles. If you don't change the oil,or rebuild the engine after those 200 miles your hp goes down till you do.

But then after 200 miles, if you change the oil, will your hp level be higher than than before you started 200 miles of driving?

For example, if you do 1000+ miles without an oil change, then change the oil. Will your hp level be less or more than when you began?

That is, if I enter a 24hr race and change the oil after, will I have lost hp?

It will be the same as 200 miles because that is the most hp you can get out of a car.No harm in doing the 24hr race my ZR1 has about 1500 miles I havent rebuilt it since the 200 mile break-in I just change the oil when I see the hp drop.If your 787B has 0 miles on it it will gain hp till it gets to 200 miles on it during the 24hr race so most likely it will have lees or the same hp till you, A: change the oil or B: rebuild the engine

You if your entering one of the 24hr endurance races you car will lose a fair amount of bhp during the race but as soon as you do oil change it will return or even go higher than when you ste=arted depending on mileage covered prior to starting the event.
I also do full chassis and engine rebuild after a 24hr event thus then not needing the oil change.

During the rubber band trick(about 1150 Dream car Indy races:scared:), 226hp said goodbye to my Vettel X2010's engine:lol:
Luckily 213 of them returned after an oil change:tup:
