Xbox Fails.
So I did a search and didn't find anything about this. Maybe its just my game or no one has noticed and its part of the update. The last few cars I bought and broke-in didn't gain any hp like its suppose to .03% after about 300miles give or take. The first I noticed was with my Dodge Ram bought brand new when 2.0 was released. It didn't gain any hp at all. I thought it was just me and possibly it did and I forgot what the hp was before. I did it with a RUF and just now with an FGT. 620hp and 936hp which is what they were originally. What the heck? If there is no more engine break-in periods, what about the hp I was suppose to gain before???

Were your RuF and FGT from used (not online)?
Used cars are always broken in unless you rebuild the engine.

The zero-mileage cars purchased from the Online Dealership are an exception; they all begin with fully run-in horsepower. Perhaps you bought them all there? (A strong possibility for the cars you mentioned).

Oooooh I didn't get that memo ever. Wouldn't have thought of searching for that. Yes though, thats where I bought them all over time. Weird how PD does things. Guess I didn't need to waste a few hours breaking them all in. :grumpy:

Engine breaking is still there. It's more noticable if you bleep the throttle yourself.

This is about breaking an engine in, running it in, loosening 'er up - i.e. the horsepower gain on new cars (or those with rebuilt engines) over the first few miles. Not engine braking. ;)

I was driving a dealership brought Civic this morning (well bob was, in B-spec 400pp event) and after every run it increased in power. Engine breaking in is still there.

I think it's only on premium cars that the engines have a running in period, as I've never managed to see power gains with any standards over and above those implemented by the upgrades. For example, a zero miles SLR standard will get the full 943bhp (I think that's the figure) when fully upgraded, whereas the premium version you have to build it up to that from around 920 or so from the same level of tuning.

I had to detune the used Iroc Camaro after 3 races during the seasonal event, so exists with used cars too.

The answer in post #3 is wrong. All cars that are 0/0/0 experience breakin to varying degrees until they hit about 500kms. OCD, NCD, or from Mars. How much power they gain is not consistent - however, they all do gain power.

The only ones I am not sure about are cars from the UCD that have less than 500 or so kms.. not sure if they continue breaking in.

Don't need anymore replies. The answer was already given the third post. READ!

Why come ask a question & then get rude when people respond after you get an answer you PERCEIVE to be correct? 👎

No need to get snappy. Don't take everything you read on the internet to be rude that's just asinine of you and what causes problems. I was just simply saying the answer had been given since everyone was just repeating or not reading into the question well enough.

Though Its what makes sense considering It was three vehicles from the OCD that never gained any hp from the supposedly engine break-in period. Unless you want to say that was incorrect, it wouldn't explain why none of the three OCD cars never gained 1 hp after 300miles being put on the engine from starting at 0 miles. Yes the oil was changed after the runs and its fresh clean oil.

All of my TC's I've tried RKM Motorsports tunes with are being broken in. I can actually hear engine tone change.

What, really engine tone does change?

I can't imagine why it would, even in real life. Perhaps the sound of metal on metal gets less intense :p

Either that, or some of the in-game effects on the engine sounds are dependent on power / torque / volume throughput etc., e.g. the sound of the exhaust gases rushing out of the exhaust tip's opening. I'm curious now...

Misread the title sorry.

Engine tone of the TC's changing was talked about on day one. Most notably was the MX5. I have used the R35, Evo X, and the Prius. As power increases, I'm hearing a bit more grunt. Even after running about 15 laps with the Prius at Trial Mt., it was starting to change. It's because of the reduction in gear whine, that the engines are now more enjoyable. That constant drone the Prius has is easier to hear overall tone.
