Hey,

I was just looking over some threads regarding car maintenance and got somewhat confused...

Im just wondering (in simple terms) how I can ensure that my cars have no permanent power/chassis damage... (when I should overhaul engine, etc.)

Thanks

I'm still not 100% sure about when to do all that stuff but I do have a general idea.

You should do an oil change every 300 miles and the engine/chassis rebuild should be not a lot less often if you really want to see a difference.

Yeah I change my oil very often anyway because it barely costs anything...
I just don't want to permanently damage my hp levels...

Also, If you overhaul your engine, will it still have the tuning upgrades that you purchased earlier???

Don't change it very often because you want to break your engine in and then when it starts to decrease around 300 miles do it.

Yes, you will still have all of your upgrades. 👍

Oh alright thanks..

Im mainly talking about my Lambo Murcielago SV. It has 815 bhp now after just changing its oil and it has 269.6 miles on it...

That should be fine, just make sure your car starts losing power before you do it because an engine will gain horsepower till around 300 miles which is when you should do an oil change.

Also, when you first buy a car even if it's from the the NCD change the oil and you will receive an extra 10-15HP.

Thanks for the advice, this game's awesome!!!

Dirty oil is definitely a factor when it comes to loss of power, but it's a gradual decline. Take note of a car's horsepower before and after racing it a few times and you will see it drop off slowly (also look at the color of the oil when you do go in for a change, it will darken and slowly turn black). Changing the oil in a new car before driving it the first time will get you some extra Hp also. As far as chassis and engine rebuilds go I have yet to see where it's worth the money (though I would guess that for someone somewhere it's worth it, but I personally wonder why they even included it in the game when I don't see the payoff), I'm a level 40 driver and after spending money on it early in the game a few time I never bothered with it anymore, just the oil change once horsepower has declined to a point where I need it back, and I have experienced no permanent loss of power to date.

I have the engine and chassis overhauls accomplished on all high mileage used cars I buy.

The frequency for engine overhaul might depend on the kind of car. When the oil changes don't restore full power or when you have to start doing them more often, it's probably time to overhaul the engine. My NASCAR cars seem to need it the most often.

As far as chassis overhaul frequency, I don't know. The indications would be when it doesn't seem to handle very good, but that's about all I can figure out.

If you notice major handling changes in your car, such as your car suddenly having servere oversteer for no apparent reason, then it's time to do chassis maintience.

One more thing,

Is there actually any way that your engine can be permanently damaged???

Thanks

Not that I'm aware of but if you put a lot and I mean a lot of mileage on your car the horsepower sill start to decrease.

No,there isn't you only overhaul an engine on used cars because the oil is bad and they don't change it:grumpy:(I blame bob) As long as you change the oil you never have to overhaul the engine you over haul your engine when you run the car with bad oil, like in real life if you run bad oil,bad thing happen it gets your engine full of gunky oil.

Oh alright, I see...

Thanks...

Np,the only time I wouldn't overhaul a used car is if its a lmp it cost SO much for overhaul like 2,3 mill

It's amusing to me that on many cars, chassis and engine restoration cost more than throwing the car away and buying a new one.

They badly need to lower the price on this aspect. I can see it being super high for the greatest race cars, but it's not really much fun.

Also, they need a better meter of how worn your engine and chassis are.

For cars I drive very frequently, I'm fortunate enough to have them shared on an alternate account so they never age.

I found that on my GT-R that I use online, I needed to do a Chassis manteinance after 1200 Kilometers, because the car was a lot less stable in breaking and entering a corner. Anyway I haven't yet done an Engine Rebuilt of a brand new car, and some have more than 3000 Km and I never noticed a power drop, but this can be because of the fact that I don't do oil changes to my new cars.

A new car needs 300km to break in the engine, oil change does not affect this at all.

You need to change oil every 200km, engine restoration every 3000km (or so, don't remember exactly when HP starts to drop), chassis the same or even less often. Doing them more often doesn't hurt your car in anyway, only your wallet. :)

I've never noticed any improvements from chassis maintenance but other say they have so I play it safe - money is so easy to make...

The engine and chassis overhaul is useless. For example, my Nascar engine has 892hp at the max. If it drops to 878 or whatever, I'll go change the oil and it will go back to max hp. If the engine looses power, and I rebuild the engine, it'll go back to 892hp. So to sum it up, changing the oil is like the same thing as rebuilding the engine, except, changing the oil is a whole lot cheaper. Everyone says the chassis rigidity is useless too and that it doesn't help your speed much at all. Hope this is useful to you!

Wrong, its usefully when you drive your car with bad oil that's the point of it,who does that, whoever drives the ucd cars that POP up BTW:if your oil is at The point of changing and you run it like that you oil change then overhaul
