I bought the Formula Gran Turismo it was about 880hp, I changed the oil and it gained a small bit, its now --> 928hp.

So I'm wondering will I see a significant improvement if I do the engine overhaul for 500,000?

If you don't do it, by the end of the championship, you'll be down into the low 800s in hp. With it, you'll drop from 936 to 880ish. You'll need to be a good driver if you don't do it.
My advice...learn to drive it well...THEN restore the engine (don't worry about the chassis), test drive it and then do an oil change...then begin the championship.
After you're done, change the oil and give it to BOB.

The formula GT seems to wear out faster than other cars, or maybe it's just that I let Bob run it so often griding B-spec. A fresh engine overhaul puts you up to 936HP, every time bob runs endurance race, then replace oil, it will only be back up to 933HP, etc. and gradually falls off until after your change oil and realize it is still under 900HP then it's time to overhaul if YOU plan to drive it, if it's Bob then let him run it into the ground. Personally I like the thing at 800HP, that's where I can actually drive it :)

I just did an overhaul with the Bentley 8. I didn't take notice of any HP change, but when I took it out after the rebuild, it just felt a whole lot smoother. It seemed to accelerate better, and I swear it sounds a bit different. or maybe I "found" these things to justify blowing 500k!!:)

Just checked.... bought it with 623 HP, rebuilt engine, now 824 HP. Yes, it's worth it!

well as for the fact that these race cars decompose faster, just be glad the engine doesnt blow up on you with the formula gt car after three races haha

In my version of GT5 the overhaul cost for the Formula Gran Turismo is 1,500,000 credits and the restore body rigidity is 2,500,000 credits. My FGT is only at 8000 or so km and others on the net have theirs at 15000km. Everywhere else on the net says that the maximum credits for each repair are 500,000. Is there something I haven't unlocked or am I missing something?

Does restoring the Body Rigidity make a big difference or is it a waste of money?

I've done Both FGT Championships...but no doubt Bob has probably smashed it all over...not me, honest. ;)

Interesting. May I ask what region your disc is? From what I understand different regions treat credits differently (or something to that effect) so maybe that has something to do with it?

I am guessing you never did an update to your GT5. Those fees are what you pay when you don't go online to update you gt5.

The rule of thumb is to only perform the Engine Overhaul on recently purchased, high-mileage cars and on cars which haveve been driven to the point where an oil change is no longer enough to restore peak power to where it should be.

Hi, unless the performance drops off a LOTT!! don't bother with either engine or body re-build, just change the oil freqently. It just costs too much.

It's from Australia, however I have seen other Australian users report much lower credits to repair

Thanks, that sounds like it might be the problem. Do you know this for sure and if I have no connection is there some way to update my version?

If the car starts handling like total crap suddenly... Then what else can you do but "waste" the money?

If the car is handling okay, and you're not having a problem... then don't spend the money. Don't fix what ain't broken, as they say.
