This may be a wierd question but does anybody else feel like the engines should sound like their revving higher than they do. For instance, when I'm looking at the gauge and it says 6k, I feel like it sounds more like 3k to me. When it's at 3k it almost sounds like it's idling for that matter. Just wondering if anyone else felt that way.

Edit: By the way, this doesn't apply to the F1 cars, those sound accurate to me.

maybe your cars need either oil change or engine rebiulds. or you´re in 1st person view

GT5 engine/exhaust notes, in general, sound terrible even with a surround sound system.

I like alot of the sounds, but there's others that I'm kind of suprised by their choices. Like the Dodge Ram 1500 fully built sounds like a small four cylinder.

Ya my grandpa has a 2011 and stock it sounds better than the tuned in GT5. they all suck. That Mach 1 has a 351w, and I have 2 IRL, and they sound nothing like it.The Mach 1 tuned or not sounds terrible and we can get better performance out of it.

Often engine sounds (in particular, sound pitch) in GT5 don't match the originally intended cylinder number, especially when fitting exhausts other than stock. That could be the reason. It hasn't anything to do with the quality of the sound system used.

A 12000 rpm Honda S2000 sounds like a V8 to my ears. Not so realistic at all.

Yeah I have given that some thought. It wouldn't be very plausible for them to get the actual sound of 1000 different cars with several different exhaust configurations. I guess I just figured that they would put a little common sense in to some of the sounds but, great game! I enjoy it very much!

Be warned though that at 12000 rpm on a 4 cylinder engine there's the same number of firings of a V8 engine at 6000 rpm.

Not the actual tone, but the general pitch and character should be easy to hang on once the firing order and the cylinder number is known. As I've written previously, the problem on many cars is that when replacing the exhaust the sound changes to a completely different engine architecture, not just to a general tone that might not be characteristic for that specific engine.

Really there are tons of cars with the same engine so that number could be cut way down considering that there are 50 skylines 20+ rx7's and who knows how many miata's

I believe its 34
The number of different engines (in-game) for them is less than that, though. 5 or 6, I believe, or not much more. They do have significant power/torque delivery differences.
