Engine Sounds After Tuning

I've noticed that with some cars, once you tune them to the max, there is a distinctive high pitched supercharger-like scream coming from the engine, even if you remove the supercharger. Does anyone know which tuning upgrade does this to the engine?
 
That'll be the fully customisable transmission

In real life, such a transmission would have straight cut or "dog" gears, which is what makes them noisy. A normal transmission will have helical (sp?) gears, which is much quieter. Google it :)
 
possibly due to the intake manifold and or racing filter upgrade. High performance NA cars can give high pitched whines from high pressure intakes.

edit: its not the transmission, the noise from a racing transmission is quite distinct and you don't hear it from the normal road cars even with the full custom tranny. The sound is very clear on a racecar though.
