Mods, if there is a better/more appropriate place to post this please move it accordingly :)

The next time you have a few and decide to get behind the wheel, please remember this thread. This auto enthusiast just lost his 25 year old son to a lady driving a jeep while intoxicated. She crossed a median and hit him head-on.

He leaves behind his wife of only 2 years and a one year old son.

Drunk driving is no joke. This was a senseless death the should not have happened. With the holiday season fast approaching, please, please take a few moments to read this thread and think twice before getting behind the wheel after a few drinks.

his wife was only 2 years old? :)

now a bit more serious:

a lot of accidents happen that way.
They should rip that woman's driving license into little pieces and let her eat it.
A couple of months in jail would also be a good punishment.
But the sad part is that no punishment is going to bring back the victim if he/she is (brain)dead.

Modified to be more appropriate. About 10, I reckon.

It's amazing to see an Internet forum pull together and stand behind someone in times of tragedy. My condolences and best wishes to his family.

It would be nice to think the Jeep driver will never drink again... but that's probably wishful thinking.

What a terrible tragedy, a young family destroyed by someone else's ignorance. Condolences to Mr. Fujibayashi and his son's young family... (Found another article here....)

Such a terrible tragedy. My thoughts to eeh family.

I'd have though she'll enter depression and drink more. Seems to be the trend I've seen in other cases.

Another thing i want to add is that live really is unfair.
Always if you hear about accidents like this, the one causing the accident has minor injuries and the victim has life threatening injuries.

Here in the United States, a drunk driver who kills someone can face manslaugher charges punishable by many, many years in prison.

I can only hope she gets the maximum sentance allowable.

There is no excuse for drunk driving. None whatsoever.

Even the person with the cleanest arrest and driving record gets 5-10 years in jail for DUI manslaughter in the US, but some juries might give even worse penalties...

Of course, if they're members of the FBI, they get off with surprisingly little penalty. :(

i hope the drunk driver gets put away for a very very long time... at least a few decades

I'm also in favor for harsh punishments for drivers caught drinking and driving.

Couple of months ago, a mayor in a town called Astoria in Oregon was making news. He had been caught drunk driving before, and he was either caught, or bumped into something while driving drunk, right before the election.

What made me think less of Astorians were the interview. Most people just said that the Mayor is a good man, and they will re-elect him in the upcoming election. What kind of logic is that? If he/she is a good person, it's OK if you put other people's lives in danger?

Taking driving licenses away for drunk driving sounds too harsh. Putting them in jail for drunk driving sounds too harsh. But IMO, we've had enough tragedies caused by drunk driving, locally, I think it's time to send some ignorant people a lound and clear message.

See, this is one of the main reasons why I have chosen to not take driving lessons yet, the roads are too damn dangerous. Drink driving is terrible and I see in the papers week after week of stories involving the situation. It has to stop, laws need to get stricter worldwide, not just in the UK or US.

I hope the woman takes a couple of moments in jail to realise the true impact of that one decision to go out and drive in her condidition. :grumpy:

On a lighter note, it's great to see the fund that the forum set up reach over 2 thousand Dollars for the family to atleast experience a well funded christmas. 👍
