After reading the idea about a 'rent-a-car', which i believe would be quite interesting, i figure it could be interesting if there were fees attached to all this. This way, it would keep a certain money-flow going during the game, keeping players from just getting richer.

Each Race would have a fee to be able to participate (accept amateurs perharps). I am aware that a player could literally 'run out' of money, but he could always turn back to amateur races, make a few quick bucks and try his luck again at bigger races.

As for Maintenance fee, the idea was that all parts of a car gets used. Brakes being a good exemple. In that aspect, it would be interesting that new brakes be purchased (amongts other parts) regulary, to maintain a good performance... Therefore, people who love their cars will invest in them.

Any thoughts on that?

that would add to the sim quality of the game, espessially the Maintainance area, its definately something i would hope to see in the game.

Great idea! - GT is never as good when you've earnt enough to buy/modify any car you want. Perhaps a 'entry fee' would also be a good way to keep the 'profits' down - obviously a higher 'fee' for the harder races and higher maintenance costs for the more sofisticated cars. Perhaps a 'engine tuner' area instead of the 'oil change' from GT3 - where you will need to spend some cash on an engine re-build to maintain your horsepower figure every so oftern. Again, the higher tuned your engine is, the more frequently you will have to vist.

This would reward good driving, and punish bad drivers by leaving them with no money to maintain their cars - if they want to compete against the big-boys.

Car wear would be good in GT, especially for highly tuned cars. Its one thing Sega GT 2002/Online did well, the more you tuned your car, the more strain it put on the parts. Was quite funny when you didn't have enough money to repair a car & had to wheel out your first car to make some money just to fix other one :)

this would be good, dropping from 5th - 1st could shag your engine, requireing a rebuild. would stop people useing the gears as a break

I've always been partial to scheduled tune-ups in GT. Similar to the oil changes.

great idea ... would add a great dimension to gt

Yes, sounds like a good idea. But, I hope if something like this is in the game that the fees wont be too high. Especially at the start of the game.

That's the idea of it - cheap cars require little to nothing in the way of maintenance fees, and the earlier events have no entry fee, but as you progress, things get more expensive, just like in real racing. Teams have to pay millions to the FIA in Formula 1 each year.

I like this idea, sounds quite cool.

thats a good idea ,but do you think its in the game or some thing equivelnt ?

I do hope so

Excellent idea and beyond doubt one of the best ideas I've seen on this forum - absolutely love it :) :)

Sadly though, I just don't think it's gonna happen or anything remotely similar :( :(

More speculation... This idea, however, I like 👍 Hope PD is LISTENING ! :dopey:

if i were PD id have at least one person keeping tabs on forums for good ideas like this, sadly i think that if its not in by now its too late, as it would be fundamental to the game and not just a "tweak" like adding reverse lights

Now that's perhaps the best idea to come up in a long time.

Someone had their thinking cap on. When I ran my compendium run it didn't take long to amass a sizeable amount of cash. This would also encourage people to do more than run the Sunday cup a few hundred times to fluff the pocketbook up.

Excellent idea.

I think this is a great idea. It would of been good on GT3, because you can make money so easely and you have nothing to do with it all.

now THIS is a VERY good idea!!! nice thinking that would be very kool in the game! [hopes pd is reading this]

It's a really good idea, it's not new but it's a very overlooked idea.

I like this thing. It will add even more realism to GT...I really like the entrance fees, especially if the AI is now a b**** to beat.

Great Idea!!! This Would Be A Great Addition To The Game. Much More Realistic.

like ya style kid ;) , good idea 💡 acording to GT3 im a multi millionare :sly: with 89 cars all done up to the t*ts. Maybe once you progress from amature and up to pro you will have to pay a season fee aswell, also if you do a race and use three sets of tyers durin, you will have to pay either upfront for them or after.

off topic here ,but will they add reverse lights on Gt4 because its not in GT4P or GT3 ?

It's a good idea. This way they'll also have a reason to include the possibility to do a dyno run. That would be sweeeet.

As long as it doesn't get as far as having to buy every set of tires for your car I don't mind. Although that woudl make it more realistic, the prices would have to be made more realistic aswell.
Otherwise, great idea.

P.S. I wonder if after (or before) GT4 is released we could ask PD for our own official PR guy. That would be very welcome.

Excellent idea, and it beg sthe question "How realistic do we really want to get?" At some point the realism could bog down the enjoyment of the gameplay. I don't feel, however, this particular addition would be a risk of that. I think it would be fun as hell. :D

It's an alright idea, except that it should only be included in high profile races such as the Cream car or Formula GT is GT3. It would be even more of a chore to gain money for some silly beginner races, than it is in GT3 having to slowly gain money to upgrade a car or buy a new one at the start of the game.

I don't think it would be as painful as it sounds, having an entry fee proportional to the winning return and only on harder level events, seems fine.
