This is quite a story, but I'll try to keept it short. However the question I'm asking is this: What shall I do, can someone help me?

First of all, I moved my PS3 to a quite place for the easter holidays, because I knew I had little to no time to play, so I used the rubberbanding to get some money.
Well to be honest, I forgot that my PS3 was rubberbanding, so it run and run and run for some days. Yesterday I remebered it and went to have a look. Well it's useless to say that the 20 mill credit limit did not improve my mood, but the epic fail happend just then.
I know that the psn is down at the moment, but I can only guess when it went down, because as I said before, I didn't do anything for about 4 or 5 days on my ps3. When I wanted to back out of the race to the main menu there was a psn message that it's down for maintenance and wuush, my PS3 restarted, without asking or pressing a button.

So I lost the credits, which isn't to bad, I lost level 38, 39 and 40 in A-Spec which is quite bad, but I also lost my savegame which is absolutely the worst case for me.

I found a savegame of my main account on a USB stick, but that one is dating back to Frebruary.

So currently I'm kind of feeling to stop playing GT5 as I lost about 500 cars, lost 2 golds in the vettel challenge and would be back to 20 a-spec and 23 b-spec.

Do you guys have any ideas how to get to my old achievments with the least possible time and effort?
 
Sorry to hear that happened to you.

The best thing I can suggest to you is to remote B-spec whenever you can once PSN is back. Set up a second account on your PS3 so you can use it to grind all the drivers on your main so you'll accumulate money and level up as quickly as possible. And check out the B-spec forum and you'll find a application that will start B-spec remote races for you automatically whenever you're away or asleep. It's very handy. At least then you'll get money to buy the cars you lost. Plus, you'd get to level 35 B-spec quickly to obtain the X2010.

That really is bad luck sir, I feel for you.

Well, you could just grind until LVL30 A-Spec, and try and get the 2 golds you lost on the Vettel challenge, should bring in a sizeable amount of XP for your trouble. Nurburgring 4hr race also brings in 2million XP points a pop, DCC is good for grinding credits & XP. There are some other things too, depends on the amount of time you are willing to devote to it.

Using a rubberband on a controller to grind Indy with an X2010. Also, how did you lose your save from your PS3 restarting?
 
I don't see any solution for this, even though I can imagine you want to believe there is something.

I'd lose all my motivation to continue, that said I better update my backup save as well because it's been two months or so.


Just give it a rest, and perhaps you'll find the "energy" to start it again later.
 
If the motivation is only in the collection and not in the playing then I'd leave it rubber-banding once again. Shame, though... the racing in GT5 is epic in itself.

But I would never leave my PS3 on for that long! Holy crap!! Was it hot?
 
why have you lost 500 cars with ruberbanding?
your savegame with the pre rubberband-5day-maniac should still be in place.
Load it aka just load the game, or save it to usb/hdd then start game and repeat the rubberband.
Maybe im blind, but i dont see an issue here (as rubberbanding is "only" electric power for a few bucks)
 
Call Sony and see what they recommend.
 
So you had motivation while rubberbanding
But since that failed now you don't ?

this is precisely why i started to back up my game saves and am always watching (read at the controller) when the PS3 is running, so no one screws with it, with two younger siblings, this is a very real possibility for me. Very lucky for me as well because right after i started backups my old PS3 YLODed less than a week later (RIP 60GB launch fat, 4 and and a half years great service!).. i wouldve had several cars that i i got in deals before the $1 million trade cap go down with it had i not done that.

I have two x 2gb usb sticks plugged into my system, 1 for my main account the other for my spare account. I back up ever day after playing and i also save a copy onto my main PC. The size for my spare account is approx 1556kb, the size of my main account is approx 2445kb (or is it mb i cant remember exactly) The point is the game save file is tiny compared to the capacity of the memory stick. Hope this helps. Btw to back up the file go into the save game section and press triangle to copy the file, then navigate to your usb stick and select copy and your done! hope this helps you. I would go ballistic if i lost my game saves after all this time, (Lvl 31 A spec, Lvl 40 B Spec and over 390 cars at the moment......:sly:

DMoss84. Stop... It does NOT effect you in any way. He can play the game any way he sees fit, especially offline. So drop it. If you don't like what he's doing/done, don't post in this thread.

Simple as that.

I can't believe the game threw you back to the XMB without a warning or saving between it. You must have done something else, a hard turn off, hard reset or something? :crazy:

I am rubber banding now since maybe 2 weeks in a row, and with ZERO problems. 👍
