Epic Slow Loading

Hey guys,

Lately, most loading times (especially ones needing internet connection) have become amazingly slow and sometimes don't load at all.

This happens from the off, as at the home screen, sometimes the selector arrow won't pop up. Then going into the seasonal events can take ridiculous amounts of time and so on.

I have no idea what's causing this and a solution would be lovely because it's making me not want to play the game.

Thanks.

Mine hangs on me in the seasonals a lot since the update. I have to exit the game and reload most times.

In photo mode after taking the pics the load times seem very long. Practice or race mode offline seem to be taking longer than I remeber as well.

If there is lag during seasonals do not quit the game. Hit the PS button and sign out of PSN. It will chime and the loading will finish. This is something that happened when GT5 first came out. The servers were overloaded with people, and dragged everythign down.

For this reason I have not played GT5 that much since the last update maybe a total of 2 hours. I used to play it 4 to 5 hours a day. They have taken the fun factor out of the game for me with all the slow loading times, online room lag, disconnects, and the new tire wear. As long as the fanboys keep buying all of there dlc's they put out they are making money and could care less about are problems with the game. If everone would just not buy any of there dlc's untill they fix there online problems maybe something would be done. Thank God there are other games to play besides GT5. No more dlc's, racing suits, helmets, new level tickets, seasonal events, car wash tickets ect. Fix the real problems that should be priority number one. (Hint) online servers.

It usually takes longer to load if the clock on your PS3 and clock on GT5 are different, if this happens just reset the time on your PS3 and that fixes it. However, I don't know what causes them to go out of sync in the first place.

Options > Network Options > Clear System Cache

Been running GT5 since day one and that alone solves most loading problems. If you're connected to the net, I highly recommend being hardwired into your modem.

I'm going to try clearing the cache later. That's a good idea that I forgot about. It must be there for a reason. lol. I'm assuming it doesn't change anything as far as the game is concerned.

If you play a lot online, it's probably clogged.

Some people are "stuck" in the loading screen when transitioning from Seasonal Events (and just about anything else) because of server lag. Then again, you have quintillions of people playing this game while signed in, so that is to be expected. The issue is easily resolved by signing out and then signing back in. The Seasonal Events are nothing more than a set of parameters that the game reads, so you could load the event and sign-off if you wanted to...

However, there are cases where the game has frozen before. Happened to me once when loading up the Indy Road Course B-Spec event; took quite a while to finally display, but once there, the game froze up. What was even more odd is that the PS3 cut its power by itself... :odd:

Tried using a wired connection but the speed is about the same as using wireless. I'm still on 'NAT Type 2' instead of 'NAT Type 1'.

I noticed that my loading times are the fastest when the only thing using the internet at home is my Playstation and nothing else. Even browsing of internet by my brother can screw up the loading time and make it SUPER SLOW. Sometimes not even responding until the browser finishes loading the page.

Agreed. I still play a bit but no way near as much since the update. The tyre wear s probably the killer for me, (the other points are just as BAD, and do suck, but seeing as i don't play as much anymore i just try to deal with it by trying to join games while i'm doing other things). However, now with the tyre update so many games are SKF, if SKF is off then the tyre and fuel wear is off also. I don't understand why people wish to make the game easier and less enjoyable. All aids off is awesome. Jesus, if they can't beat me with it off, i'm pretty sure i'm going to beat them with it on.

I know some of you are thinking, join a racing league etc. I just don't have the time to such a thing.

Don't get me wrong its an awesome game. i love playing it and will keep playing. I think that they are killing it for themselves, IMO.

I had the same problem from the 2.0 update only when I was signed into PSN, always hanging, getting disconected alot in online lobbies and the loading time was getting rather frustrating so I stopped going online as much.

I have a recently just wired my PS3 to the modem and what a hell of diffrence loading times are 10 times quicker had a couple of hours online racing without one problem, no hanging and Im still only on NAT2 connection.

Would definatly recomend a wired connection you will notice a big diffrence.

I was having the same issue with longer loading times after the last update.
Even going in the community tab, it took ages to load the PSN friendlist there.
I decided to clear my cache in game and all is back to normal again now.
Now I made it a habit to clear my cache every other day or so.

Because I do so much Remote Racing, I just clear it daily now. It may be unnecissary, but I haven't had any problems.

I also recommend people reset their modems before playing. At least for my ISP, I've found it does make a difference.

I haven't fixed it, but what I do know is if there is a really slow load, I'll sign out of PSN like someone mentioned above, then sign in and usually the next time it will work ok. This will have to do lol.

1. Reset your modem.
2. Turn off custom music.
3. Clear your system cache.

Clear cache doesn't work for me and I have never used custom music. Usually someone else in the house is online when I play so I can't reset the modem and the logout trick does nothing - help!!

Kick the other user of line. they are likely causing Lag from there packet data and other content they are downloading/streaming.

Router/modem restarts take less than 1 min. flick the mains switch off for 10 secs.

Tried resetting the modem and playing when no-one else is online but it made no difference. I'll try plugging into the modem and pray the next patch will help.
Thanks anyway!

I've been having this problem, going to try that and see how it goes, hopefully it'll load faster and so I can get back into GT5..

Clearing the network cache does help. I've heard that syncing your trophies will help online play and loading times. I've also heard that clearing the cache in the internet browser will help with online play and perhaps loading times.

glw
i just swapped my magnetic hdd for a ssd... i'm quite happy with the result.

I bought a cheap 55gb ssd just for GT5.

from the original 5200rpm hdd it is a massive difference!

equally when i noticed the ps3 was on the wireless connection even though the ethernet cable was plugged in!!

From my experience on the screen it takes longer than usual, or the modem entirely stops loading the data when the configuration of the lobby gets under mogulation for some reason, or I've got an inner problem with the connection being plugged on the console(i.e when it earns something problematic after I connected to the online lobby to seek out for vacant rooms thought I have no clue why it had occurred, or just a matter springing from a speck or scar on the plug).

If the lobby is not under adjustment or you can be certain you don't have a problem by way of connecting it, trying to get a juncture with the lobby again at certain intervals of minutes or cleaning up your PS3 regularly will help you solve the problem. :guilty:

Make sure the disk is clean too.
Extra extra clean,
For me, just one fingerprint can make my game crash hard.
