Erepublik combines both Social Networking and Strategy into a single massively multiple player online game where players can participate in a variety of activities. Citizens of the Erepublik world can own businesses, form political parties, vote in elections, write newspaper articles, and even go to war as citizens of virtual versions of real life countries. The game has no visual element, and is text-based in nature.

Upon joining a citizen picks which virtual country he wishes to join. Each of these countries is named after an actual country in the real world, and is located similarly. The citizen then seeks employment at a company within that country, and is allowed the opportunity to train as a soldier for that country. Training, and working at a company is done on a daily basis by a simple click of two buttons. One of the main drawing points of the website is that it takes a mere "14 minutes a day" to participate.

I've been playing this game for a month or so. It's in Beta stage right now and you can only register on it via invitation. Yesterday was the 250th day of Erepublik so they gave most users a bunch of invitations, including me, so I thought of offering them here in case someone's interested in participating.

It's a cool game. You choose a country and a region of it to live in, and there you can work for a company or create your own, you can join the army to participate in wars (which I think it's the final purpose of this game), you can be a politician and run for party president, mayor and even the country's presidency.

It doesn't necessarily require a lot of time to play it, five minutes a day will be enough if you're a casual gamer but it also offers a lot of opportunities to the hardcore players.

How does it run on the computer? Will it be a hassle for slower ones? I might be interested trying it out.
 
Ah, sorry I think I forgot to mention it's a web browser text-based game. Still if you like strategy games I think you'll like it.
