The market certainly appears to be getting more and more receptive to the idea of elective performance cars. There have been concepts and even production models in the past, but the rate the concepts have been showing up recently eclipses any activity regarding them we've seen up until now. There's still that issue of battery life, if I had to use an electric car for work it'd take me 13-14 hours to travel to Glasgow, it currently takes 3-4.

At least some people are developing electric cars instead of the other big makes completely ignoring the resource problems we have today ;). Without any concept cars, it might as well be impossible for electric cars to reach the level of usability of petrol cars today, so it's good to see some manufacturer bringing an electric car into production :)

I don't really like the look of that front bumper, but I would buy one of those straightaway if I'd ever have the money for it...

It certainly is intriguing to be seeing more and more of these performance cars. I am enjoying that these cars have the range to be effectively useful for the majority of the urban population. I would have expected that the electric bandwagon would be headed by econoboxes like the EV-1 was, and not soprtscars. Maybe they're either trying to prove a point or just using sports car platforms because of weight.

I like it. Its definately something that could sell just for the novelty. Hopefully the technology can get cheap enough.

Great work by RUF, but I'm a bit skeptical when it comes to the press release, especially when I read this:

Vmax 160 mph, 225 km/h

Ummm.......it's either 225km/h which is 140mph, or it's the 160mph which is 257km/h!!

None of the big makers have the money, which is what some politicians of a certain persuasion seem to refuse to believe.

1900kg? and most of that on the rear axle.. :D they could had tried to save the weight distribution atleast..

It looks the part, but I would have a hard time shelling out a boat load of cash for a heavier, slower Porsche 911. Not to mention it would be missing that lovely flat six burble.

;)

I like what they've done with the 997 aerodynamically. Making the bumpers rounder and smoothing or deleting all the vents makes it really pretty. 👍

Because with sports cars people are more willing to ignore fundamental problems with the car than they would with a Toyota Camry.
