Evenly Matched Cars

As the title suggests, I want to know of your experiences of two evenly matched cars which make for an intense race.

Me and my cousin race nightly on GT5 and I have the g25 where as he is on an six axis. If we have the same car, I usually lap 2- 3 seconds quicker due to the larger turning circle of the g25. We randomly decided to race different cars in the hope for a closer race, the gallardo and sls was chosen and the gap reduced quickly to around 1 second and the end of a 3 lap race.

We have tuned both our cars with a horsepower limit, but I generally think these two cars are pretty well suited.

our next trys going to be tuning an Impreza and Evo.

What cars have you guys found to be close matched around a track?
 
I usually open en room with 1200+ KG and 600 or 700 HP.

Close racing between Nissan GTR's, Ford GT's, Ferrari Scuderia's or 458's, Corvette z06 or ZR1 and I even saw some guys competing hard with Lotus Esprit V8's.

Obviously the GTR is the best in the list due to it's 4wd and insane amounts if grip, even though it's the most heavy :/ Anyway your friend could play witht he GTR, and you could take any of the others =)
 
The Super GT cars (either GT300 or GT500) should make for pretty close racing. If you need a handicap, perform an oil change on one of the cars and leave the other completely stock; that should make for enough of a HP difference to balance the advantage of driving with a wheel, at least with the GT500 cars; it should be a difference of, dunno, ~40HP.

In addition, some of the GT500 cars are a little ahead of the others, as evidenced by the different level requirement.
 
thanks for the replies, ford gt sounds interesting, is it tamable once tuned?
 
What me and my friends are currently doing is this:
For any car we want to use multiplayer we take it to Nurburgring GP/D in practice mode and get a lap time. When we go online someone picks a car and gives its time, and everyone else picks a car they have a similar time with.
We've just started this, and depending how anal you are can be a bit time consuming to set up (for example, instead of 1 time per car you could record it's time with: stock tires/racing softs, it's time with all mods on, all mods off, just the turbo off, etc.)
If this thread's still about after we've tested it more I'll post back on how effective it is.
