-----------------------------------------------------
Due to amount of people participating in this event, some weren't able to make it. Therefore, this event is temporarily suspended until spots fill up. Sorry for all the delays but an event of this magnitude has never been completed before and I'm still trying to work out the kinks. Sorry for the delays :dunce:

-----------------------------------------------------

Ever since Gran Turismo 5 went online, drag racing instantly became a popular "un-official" event. People who wanted to participate were usually faced with a critical decision. Choose the quarter mile drag, or the longer, 3km SSR7 drag. People have had to make this choice ever since, but did they make the right decision? Which takes more skill? It's like pitting a F1 driver against a NASCAR driver, you can't say which is better... until the ROC came along. This is what I plan to do. Hold a drag race competition on a straight that utilizes the Indy knowledge of launching and SSR7 tuner's knowledge of top end speed. Using the WRC C6 Rally car, I meticulously measured the distances of Indy and SSR7 to find some neutral ground. Here's how I did it:

  • At Indy the distance from the end of the yellow striped area, to the shadow was 376 Meters.

  • At SSR7 the distance from the beginning of the tunnel to the end of the tunnel was 3,042 Meters.

  • Subtracting 376 from 3042 we get 2,666 Meters.

  • Divide that by 2 to get the halfway mark we get 1,333 Meters.

After scouring many of the tracks with long straights, I have found one that is smooth, wide and appropriate for our purposes, Fuji Speedway. The starting line will be at the end of the long straight, where there is a white line:

Then race until there is a small area of artificial turf:

fujispeedwayf1c.jpg

The ending of the small turf will be our finish line.

These are the cars we will be using and the people representing the fastest car in their tuner group:
- Audi Le Mans Quattro
- Nissan GT-R SpecV
- Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR
- Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 (C6)
- Ferrari Enzo
- Tommykaira ZZII
- Bugatti Veyron
- Speed 12
- Cadillac Cien Concept
- McLaren F1

How this will work:

We will all start off with one car. Since it is the first on the list, it is the first we will use; the Audi Le Mans Quattro. The Indy Tuners will come out of the pits first. Four people will line up with one ghost. Another player will be at finish to call the race. Unless I am in the actual race, I WILL BE AT THE FINISH TO MAKE SURE RESULTS ARE FAIR. Then the group will run four wide 3 times, best 2/3. Then the same system will be used on the other half of the Indy tuners. Once the two fastest are found, they will duke it out in the semi - final, best out of 3 runs. After the SSR7 tuners follow this system, the two best tuners will face each other, best out of 3 runs. The tuner with the fastest listed car will be posted here. Remember that while all this is happening, all other cars will be spectating and NOT IN THE PITS*. Then repeat for the next car, Nissan GT-R SpecV, and the next one, and the next...etc.

*Unless you are in the actual race, you cannot be on the track, even the pits. This is because a good way of telling who won is to look at the player list on the right side of the screen. When there are more people on the track, it becomes harder to tell who won.

Rules:

  • No aftermarket wings will be allowed.

  • If you feel that your run was unfair due to ghost lag or a mis-shift, you can call for ONE more rematch.

  • There will be NO GHOST LAUNCHING. You may launch however you like without using the start button.

After playing with mafia_boy on TTGT, the SSR7 tuners are taking this VERY seriously. Since I don't want to give them an easy win, if you want to join the Indy dragger list, you will have to beat, tie or have a close race with some of my cars.

I will have to test my cars with u first, from there you will decide if i can join or not. 👍

I'd like to join but I don't think my skill is at the necessary level to compete quite yet. Can't wait to see how this turns out!

I might not be able to attend due to time zone's because im in Australia. But we will see.

That time is around lunchtime for us bro. 👍

DaLightningRacer, I'll give you a few names to put onto the list for the SSR7 side:

mafia_boy
dr24fan
joey3000
cooldude3007
J5_910
midnight910
calvulery23
B1G-SHADY

and that's only from 1/2 the PSN messages I've sent out. You boys are going DOWN!! THE CRAYON CREW IS GOING TO WHIP THAT ASS!! :D

Guys you will need to be as quick as DLR to even have a shot against us, and after testing against DLR today, I can safely say that this is going to be a GREAT competition. 👍 TGTT showed us both that it's more catered toward the 1/4 mile guys but not by much.

Another thing, why isn't my name already #1 in the SSR list?? :p

I'm in for Indy. After the event last night everyone from GME went and started tuning for it. No doubt they are taking things quite seriously in their department.

ALL INDY DRAGGERS NEED TO FIND A MEETING TIME

Actually it was both GME & ProSpeed that went and tuned together. :p

So you can all share your sob stories with eachother after we decimate you. :D

Oh ya I remember ProSpeed being there now. Forgot. d24689 wanted me and Kenny to come last night but you guys didn't make the room big enough the first time lol.

LOL you're funny. No though I have a feeling SSR7 tuners will win after last night at Indy.

We think so, but DaLightningRacer might have something to say about that. Depends on who he grabs to join him to race us.

Yup. After we find out who's coming, I'll arrange a meet at Fuji.

We think so, but DaLightningRacer might have something to say about that. Depends on who he grabs to join him to race us.

Remember that I am solo ;)

I know a few guys that tune their car so that you think they are using NOS...

I hope you chose well ;)
When you have 3 of the top tuning teams combining to make one super crew to take you Indy guys to school then you can guarantee that I chose well with my personnel. And we still haven't got to people like Dr.Slump who already indicated his interest so the spots might change depending on who's ready at what time. 👍

And then they will get overtaken by us so hard you'll think we're on NOS. :D

So far that day and time works for me, however, I don't own a Cien so I'm hoping that I will be able to pick one up by then...

BTW... my EVO/STi team holds tournaments throughout the week, so I am very used to close finishes... I own a Hauppauge HD PVR which I can use to clearly and truthfully decide the winner of the race  , and if you dont believe me  , then I can put it up on youtube for you all to see 👍
