As with the recent developments in my life, I have re-associated a lot of my lifestyle and looking for strength to deal with issues. . . I was wondering what others look to for strength to get you through rough times. . . I am by no means a religous person, but I remember there was this picture/poem called footprints. . . A guy basically asks god why there are two sets of footprints and then just one, and god told the man it was then I carried you my son. . . I always get shivers on my spine thinking of it. . . I know I don't look for a religous base for strength being more of a scientific person. . .

I look at my writings since I was young and how they developed to form the way I think nowadays. . . I look at the writing and what I was feeling at the time. . . I look at the tough times and the easy times. . . I write at least three times a week and know that will help me deal with life. . . What do you look to for strength?

I always look to waht the future holds for me when I need some strength. I hate the monotony of school, but I know that it, like everything else, will come to an end at one point or another. If I can, I also like to spend time with friends. Nothing beats that in my opinion.

I think friends are the best recipe for problems. . . They have always been few and far between. . . as for friends I only have 1 liffe long friend I know of. . . My friend Sam, he is currently living in Japan Teaching English. . . We met in elementary school when we were 5 about 20 years ago. He punched me in the face and broke my nose. Then our parents sat us together and said you two are friends now. . . 20 years later, we are the closest of friends even being halfway across the world from each other. . .

I unfortunately, am usually the one looked to for strength. My wife unloads everyday problems on me. The office tends to load things on me. I'm always the mediator in the family. Sometimes it gets to be a bit much.

I usually wait for a sunrise, and watch that. Because you know what? No matter how many credit card companies call, no matter how many dumb customers, irate clients, over paid superiors, arrogant cowarkers, abusive family members or any other person out there dumps on you, there's not a damn thing they can do to stop that sun from rising.

As miserable as they make your life, they're just another person stumbling through this world looking for something else.

You know what else happens every time that sun comes up? you're one more day closer to your next goal. Even if it's only keep things in perspective till she gets home.

Ever think you're the top of the food chain? Try telling a cat what to do. They've got it figured out.

Good luck,

AO

Yeah, what Ev0 does is practically what I do... If it takes a long time, I think to myself and chop up the time into smaller chunks so it's alot easier to take.

For example, school; I take it one week at a time. By the time the week's over, you reward yourself with two days of rest. Then the cycle repeats itself. This pattern is what I look to for pressure relieve and strength to push through another year of school.

I feel it from you AO. . . I didn't have that perspective as well mashed down as you do. . . I am told by Kristien and Sam that I have the strongest Will they have ever seen in anybody. They tell me how much strength I give them in times of need and how I carry the weight of the world on my back and I should not. . .

I think I will take some advice from you AO and watch the sunrise tomorrow, thanks for some inspiration in a dark time :D

I wish I could do that, but I am constantly looking at tomorrow and trying to breakdown what needs to be done to accomplish goals I have set. . . I wish I could do that nowadays, I remember in High school and college it was like that. . .

Heh, that reminds me of how I met one of my best friends. He nicked my earphones and I threw a rock at his face, from there we became the best of friends. Although for the last year or so we have grown kinda distant. Just seeing a few of my mates for a while makes me feel better.

There was a time when Sam and I went our own ways and had some distance especially the first three years of college. . . but we grew closer again. . .Friends seem like the best chicken soup. . .

Me personally I turn to my truck, when things got me down I like to get in my truck and go for a drive some where out in the country. Early dawn or dusk is the best because nothings more peaceful then driving with the sunset or sunrise.

And if thats not possible I just sit down in my comfortable lazy boy and think about the good side of life. There has to be people worse of then me and I thank God for not making that bad.

I'm not real relgious, but I do believe in God and that helps me get by too.

if i'm overtly stressed, i'll just go up to my room and do a few pushups. Other times, i'll just find something soft and punch at it.
Every day, i get to take a nice, long walk to clear my head and think about how to go about solving my problems - especially now that the weather is warming up so i can walk on the street rather than underground. The best thing for lifting me up though is just a few hours on my bike - I get to forget about everything going on in the world around me and just focus on getting over the next hill.

just find something you like to do...and vent off doing it.
like rumple said, writing is good. whenever im all stressed out and thinking of things i could do to change what happened i write everything down.

but the best way to gain strength isnt through what you do...its through yourself..you must make yourself stronger by averting your mind from what is ailing you.

I don't look for religous based strength either. I do however look to God for strength when I need it.
For the most part I can stand by myself against most things I have had to deal with but it's nice to know someone is backing me.

I don't have a religion (unless Viperism counts??) but I'm not sure what gives me strength. I think maybe doing physical sports like running, hockey, and biking. Anything dealing with cars is always up lifting but I not sure about giving me strength. I suppose I've just got used to just dealing with whatever's going on. I just worry how much the stress is hurting my body.

Meditation and long walks is my main source of inner strength. I find it as very good tools to calm down, get peace and perspective to things. I rarely talk with other ppl about "what should I do about this and that". The few times I do so afterwards I see that any advice I get, I rarely follow. Is it a good way? Don't know, it's more like my way.

[edit] And what solid said, music. Almost any music can empower, as long as it's a good song.

I listen to music, if I don't write or play it myself. Johnny Lee Hooker's song The Water Front is a particular favorite of mine. That song clears all the **** away, for me, no matter how bad I'm feeling. Everybody should listen to that song at least once, before they die. It wouldn't take you long to downloaded now, would it?

i am not particulary artistic...i dont write but when i need to think or when i need inspiration or strength i get my bike and a tent and head into the hills for the day....the long winding empty roads really give me a sense of peace...it helps me get things into perspective and helps me sort things out in my mind....i will find a quiet spot, build a small fire and watch the sun go down....

usually in the morning things are clearer...

this has changed since i got married but i still turn to the lonley road even if it is just for an afternoon...

*WARNING: The following post contains religious content. It reflects only my views on this issue.*

Well, I must say that I turn to God for strength. God and his words are about all that can provide strength when I need it. Aside from that, I am constantly having to give away my strength to others. Without God, I would be nothing...

i just sit down and watch chappelles show...no i really do:lol:

sometimes laughing is the best thing in the world:D
