(YLOD) yes, i too have now fell victem of this, just as i was really getting into the game too, nearly A-spec level 39, got B-spec level 40, so close to collecting everycar in the game, and now, i feel lost, lol.

Hopefully i will get it fixed and be back playing asap " fingers crossed "

Is GT5 1 of the main reasons for this (YLOD) its seems a lot of ppl have this happen while playing the game..

Usually, from what I hear YLOD is usually caused by the Thermal paste on the processor being crap, and the system overheating. if you can't fix it by re-applying thermal paste, you can always take the HDD out of your PS3 and back up the data from it, including your GT5 data.

EDIT: PS3's use the same HDDs as Laptops.

As a frequent remote racer, I feel for ya man! Hopefully you can get back up soon. I'll b-spec your kids while you're gone!

YouTube heatgun trick. Then re apply new thermal compound. This is a temporary fix but will get your ps3 on long enough to save.

And contrary to what the other post said. You cannot put your hdd in a computer to get the info. It is the same type but every ps3 writes the hdd in its own code and only the exact console can read the code. So you gotta get that puppy running to save data to a USB drive.

This is true. 400 hrs of Demon Soul's lost due to being unable to get my MGS80gig back running. I wish Sony would remove the Copy Protecting from saves. I want to play Heavy Rain again but I can't bring myself to go threw and unlock 1 ending to get the final trophy, when I had all but that one ending opened before.

I have an old fat 80gb system, i know there useless, but i prefer the look rather than these slim type.

I've got a fat40, and have been kinda nervous since GT5 came out.

I knew that the enduros would be hard on the system, even before I found out that I'd ALSO have to A-spec them too (can't wait for in-race saves). As a precaution, I bought a small fan for the PS3, a laptop cooler (to cool the bottom and provide better circulation), and a UPS (cuz power flashes are a regular thing here).

I backup my system daily, so I'm not too worried about losing any data (and it's backed up in multiple locations).

Hope you're back up soon, and when you are, let me know how I can help get you back where you belong!

My PS3 decided to get me on April fools day, no YLOD though.

What happened is, I was duping paints, I saved my game to a USB drive just like I've done 20-30 times before. Sent the paint, quit my game, erased the save on the PS3 then reloaded the game from the USB stick. **** Corrupted Data please erase this save data.

The PS3 did not write the save correctly, now I back up to 2 different USB drives and then back the USB drives up to my desktop and my Mobile Me cloud every day.

I can't understand how the PS3 can screw up something as simple as copying a gamesave.

I would have thought it was more likely the USB drive that did the corrupting, rather than the PS3.
