I've been looking around and I've seen no threads dedicated to this car. I want to know from people who have driven it in Prologue about their experiences with it. How does it handle, how stable is it, etc. I'm very curious about how it drives in game. Lap time comparisons to other cars would be good too if they are available (or if someone has some time on their hands).

The evo 8 isn't particularly good in GTP given that it is in the hardest license test of the game, purely for handling reasons. Understeer is such that the final hairpin at Tsukuba, and obviously any other similar corner, is not possible with ease at above 35mph ish. I myself don't really like it. But trust me, there are plenty of threads around from people complaining they can't do this test because of the 8MR's handling issue.

The EVO VIII in the license test is using street tires, that's why most people are complaining about the handling. It's plenty fast when compared to other cars on similar tires. In fact, it's one of my favorites in the game.

I found the EVO VIII to be far superior than any EVO on GT3.
I actually think it's the first time an EVO doesn't feel heavy and dull in Gran Turismo.

Note that I am not talking about the MR or the license test (I haven't played the game enough).
Just the normal EVO VIII.

There were so many people complaining about this 37 test, but:

My opinion, when you drive this car a few laps with the DFP first, you will grow on its handling and learn to love it. I think like Arwin said; " brake hard into the corner and then lift off to let it come around".

Also, to the people who hate this test; listen to our dear vicky as she explains the lesson well, if you follow the lesson, it should be not so hard! :)

a nice drive!

I admit perhaps that it would handle better wirh sport tyres, but surely it doesn't understeer that much in real life, even with road tyres!!

Cheers for the link Arwin, I've been looking for a db like that...I notice I'm a second off your Tsukuba time in the F1.

I'll have that soon ;-) but I am humbled by your New York effort...I won't even say my time, more practice needed I think!

I didn't have much trouble with the EVO VIII MR test at all.
The most difficult one was probably the one where you have to take the second last corner (leads onto back straight) of Tsukuba in an understeery one-geared car (my memory fails me at the moment). I gave up on it and got it on my first attempt the next day.

lesson 37 evo 8 have had a good few goes at this test and still nearly half second off gold have checked lesson guide my splits are there abouts the same its all about the exit speed and amoumt of drive you can get from the last hair pin and not loosing to much grip and traction on the final right hander

Yeah good luck for gold on that one m8. I don't really have the time or patience to do that. (yet. Though I will have loads of free time in the upcoming summer, so maybe ill try a few golds, but im not going to pull hair out over it)

I just checked some of the Evo MR's lap times at Tsubuka, and I am very surprised at how slow the times are. Top Gear's test of the MR yeilded a very fast lap of 1:26.00 which is only 0.2 seconds off of the Lamborghini Gallardo's time, despite a deficit of nearly 200hp. The MR beat the Lotus Exige by 0.4 seconds, yet the MR is getting destroyed ingame by it's little brother, the Elise.

Also, in the link Arwin provided, the MR is listed as having the same weight and power as the Evo GSR. I hope this is only a typo, since I would certainly hope PD did not enter the wrong information for one of my favourite cars. Even if it is just a typo, PD still has some cleaning up to do with this car, as it is VERY fast in real life, and should handle like a dream (according to road and track, it defeats a Saleen S7 in the slalom by 0.2 mph and is only 0.01g off the S7's skidpad rating).

The time I see the MR running is 1'05 on street tires, its not bad at all. The fastest stock Evolution is the VII RS which ran 1'04'xxx. Pretty close, GT4 did very good, getting times very close to each other.

I dont have the prologue so I cant play it, guess Ill have to wait for GT4.

I think maybe what people need to realise is that you need to get used to handling the 8MR in prologue, and that means lap times wil initially seem poor, but professional drivers for GT4 versus real life yield very similar results.

EDIT: I just remembered a quote from my brother trying to do this one. He said, "HOW MCUH UNDERSTEER?" But of course, that was before had really got into the game a lot, as it only took a couple of hours to get to lesson 37, and only a few more to finish the lot, albeit mostly bronzes.

Listen man you need to realise lesson 37 does'nt exist its a myth :sly:

The Evo VIII MR's handling is ok, but it does tend to understeer more than the Evo VIII GSR.

Anyway, I found the Tsukuba test in the VIII MR easy to get a bronze on, but getting a gold, that's a different story!
