If you are a world rally fan living in the UK, then have I got some news for you. For the past couple of years, ITV4 has covered the world rally championship for us fans living in the UK. But the coverage was flawed. The schedule was all over the place, and the show did not have the main slot on the channel, when it should have. Infact, it did not have the second, third or fourth slot. Does anybody want to guess... it had the seventh slot. But now the contract with the ITV, the new channel Dave have signed a contract with the world rally championship to cover the championship, and this time it will have the main slot on the channel. The show will still last one hour in length, but this time it will include a lot more coverage of the British drivers, such as Matt Wilson. The show will now be presented by Neil Cole, who covered the chmapionship before with AXN. It is still going to be a digital program, but because Dave is half-owned by the BBC, the WRC can also be screened on regional BBC stations. The first show will be screened on the 20th January and from then on there will be new content every week, including previews and reports from each round.

*whistles* But then, they covered Lewis Hamilton to such an extent given. were British drivers really that obscure in other broadcasts the first time around?

They never used to be. Back in the McRae vs Burns vs the world days, Channel 4 had an hour long programme on the Sunday of the rally weekend. Tragically, however, we've lost 3 British WRC stars in the past 2 and a bit years. Now, there's no British drivers regularly appearing in the WRC - heck, there's only one co-driver, Phil Mills who partners Petter Solberg - and, coupled with the vertical rise of Lewis Hamilton, the WRC got forgotton. Hopefully this will help it make a comback.

Saw this the other day and was ecstatic! I can't wait to watch WRC again, the first time since it was properly on ITV1 (Full 1 hour show on at a normal time).

Same here. I can't wait to watch the first show on the 20th on January, ehich is going to be a preview, obviously. The problem with ITV4 was that the schedule was so badly screwed up that the program was hard to catch, making the WRC world hard to keep up with, especially if you don't have a computer. Magazines are another way. Autosport for example, their coverage in the magazine is fantastic. Anyway, I can't wait for the 20th of January!

Gosh I haven't watched WRC for years, It all died when all the manufacturers pulled out plus I don't have freeview so there was no where to watch it...

I guess for me there still isnt! The only reason why I would want freeview is for Five US.

Infact you do not need to worry about missing it to much. As Dave is half-owned by the BBC, you will be able to watch it on reigonal BBC stations.

You were watching top gear tonight too?:p
I wasn't actually. I just saw an advert on Dave which said the WRC preview would begin at 6:00pm next Sunday!
