Hyperbole? Whatever. Either I just don't know how to use the search function properly, or somehow, no one here is talking about this game. How could that be??
Futuristic sci-fi hardcore rally raid simulator set on alien planets. What more do you need? Great physics, incredible sci-fi presentation... It's loaded with unique mechanics: RCS thrusters to control attitude and soften the landing when you catch air, using a drone to scout the stage beforehand to plot your own route and mark hazards, and dangerous weather events like micro-meteor showers.
There's a demo out on Steam now. I played it on a whim this morning and was just blown away by it all. The concept is so well-executed; I've played my fair share of half-baked sci-fi racing games from indie developers and this is not one of them. The people behind it clearly put a lot of effort and care into both the motorsports side and the sci-fi side of the game. The demo comes loaded with a 10-ish stage event that took me about 90 minutes to finish, so there's quite a lot there. Apparently the full version will feature procedurally-generated environments so every event will be truly unique, which should go a long way in terms of replayability.
I'm just a bit shocked by the quality of this game and the execution of the concept. I don't know when the full game is coming out, but the demo already feels feature-complete, rather than some early access title with obviously missing elements. I can't wait to play the full version. Sci-fi rally raid may be an incredibly niche genre, but this game feels like it was developed specifically for me, and it's incredible. But I think anyone who's into hardcore sim-racing or just motorsports games in general should really give it a shot. That is all.
