HOW?

This would be such a blessing if it can be done as to edit on PC and upload to youtube with clarity and ease.

I see most ppl using a video cam and cell phone to record and upload their videos which results in terrible viewing.

Humbly await your responses

Regards and all the best for 2011

Youtube upload was meant to be a feature but I figure the PS3 doesn't have the memory required to to video encoding and a server side setup too costly

Maybe they will consider a standalone PC app that can convert saves into a video file that can be uploaded to save us all doing shaky cams.

Itd be great if we could stream it (in a way) from GT5 to your PC / Laptop via a cross over cable or (W)LAN connection. That way little memory is needed off of the PS3 as as GT5 creates it it is sent straight onto the computer.

That stream would still need to be something the pc could understand, which would either mean the PS3 outputting the rendered visuals as video, or pc software than can take the raw replay data, render and output as video.

Cheapest is probably something like a KWorld DVD Maker USB2. Will capture SD (480p)

Something that will capture HD is about 10x the price

I use the Hauppauge HD PVR http://www.hauppauge.com/site/products/data_hdpvr.html - to capture everything from my DVR and game consoles. Here is a link to DizzyDoug on Youtube - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S3s6GzXYztc . I used him as my example for buying and setting up my "stuff".

Here is a link to a little "test" Youtube GT5 video I made back in November - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EL4Uw2mZfqw

My setup is: PS3 / Xbox / Tivo thru RadioShack component switcher to Hauppauge HD PVR to PC and TV. I use the RadioShack switcher because I got tired of plugging and unplugging equipment.

Any questions, lemme know.

There won't be any applications for PC to read the replay...
The replay only store position information along with time and physical status.
If there was an applications to fully render a lap it'd take over 20GB since it needs the music, textures models from the game.

But you can add text to a video and then upload it to YouTube using the PS3 YouTube video uploader. Some games also allow capture and upload.

The problem is memory. The Youtube uploader isn't running GT at the same time.

As an experiment I converted a 720p MJPEG video from my camera to WMV at 5kbps in Windows Live Movie Maker. It was using between 140-150mb of ram, I can't see how GT5 could run even it's replay mode in only 90-100mb of ram while a video encoder was also running.

I suspect the plan was/is for the youtube upload to be a server side encoder but some one did the maths on expected uploads in the first couple of months of release and decided to either can the feature or wait until usage of the game is down to manageable levels then introduce it.
