Graanted im not 100% ultra familiar with a couple of the tracks, the 1st two i can get gold no problem, Monaco im getting close to being lapped on unless i become a moving chicane in 4th place and hold them all up.

I have racing soft and full downforce, all other settings are standard. Being 20 laps for 5 races is it? its nearly cost me a new 52" telly and a controller it wound me up so much

I know patience is key and just be smooth and consistent and the lap times will fall, as will the AI, but on some of the tracks they are pulling away so fast its crazy.

Also apart from leaving the PS3 running, can this type of series be saved to start another day?

Any tips on setup for any of the tracks appreciated, is the F1 type car i bought second hand the only one available or are there better? Is there a way i can drain the fuel tanks of the AI before the race

You can save the series between races.

If you're willing to run with driver aids, SRF makes a big difference. I couldn't control the car without it, though I might have more success if I were to try again now.

In addition to the already-posted helpful hints, be sure to adjust your transmission to suit the circuit -- your fastest speed on the longest straight should be near (not at) redline. (A little extra top gear allows effective drafting.) Also, be sure you are near full HP with an engine rebuild and a couple hundred miles, or at least a fresh oil change. A few hp won't make a huge difference but it will help if you are really struggling. Also I have found that reducing the front spring rate a couple tenths will improve turning, just watch your ground clearance if you are running max downforce. And remember, slow in, fast out... this means watch your braking points. And don't slam the brakes on all at once, try rolling them on quickly, this is much more effective. Finally, don't get pissed, just have fun, you will win!

EDIT: reducing the LSD accel setting will help your low-speed turning.

I did all these with a near stock set up. Monaco did cause me a problem with oversteer under breaking in the last sector, I fixes this by changing the brake balance to 8/3!
That's really the only bit of tuning I used!

Altered break balance 8/3 and changed the front spring setting down 4 notches, the car handles a LOT better! 1st two races i get gold easily, Monaco i still fail miserably, just cant find the right lines for some reason.

Have not done the final races but know Monza ans Susuka inside out, and after a few test laps that i tried i should be able to win those no problem. Im hoping 4/6 golds may give me gold overall and i can run the other two for gold individually.

What im curious in now is this adjustment i made to the springs, if i found that vastly improved the feeling of the car for me could i go further? What exactly has it done? It just turns in so much sharper (like the lock on the car is worse than an oil tanker)

Try dropping Traction Control down to 1 or 0 (0 is best but might take a bit of getting used to especially at Monaco)

Firstly TC at 5 will slow you down. And what is CSS? There's no Driving Aid with that abbreviation - if you mean ASM it's either on/off, so not numerically valued.

If you turn TC down to 0 and struggle with wheel spin turn it back to 1, any higher and it will make it harder to keep up with the AI.

I think he means Controller Sensitivity Settings "CSS".

Setting the Controller Sensitivity up will speed up how fast the steering wheel is being turned allowing you turn the wheel to full lock much quicker for very sharp turns. This will make the car feel more twitchy (conversely a low setting will make the car turn in more smoothly but slower) though so you'll have to experiment to see what works for you.

He means a hacked Formula GT; however, you come across as a decent racer, and I personally would suggest you don't stoop to using a hacked car. 👎

It just sounds like you need practice and patience. The Formula cars are really fast and it takes a bit to find your rhythm with them. If you're having a lot of trouble you could not do the championship and just practice each race in the series until you feel confident that you can do them all in a row and do well. Just a suggestion.

With Championship series races there's no starting over and you have to do the entire championship in a row. Your total points determines your place in the rankings so you can typically lose a race or two and still win the championship. Each finishing position gives a certain number of points and whichever racer has the most points at the end of the series wins. You could finish second in every race and as long as the same AI driver didn't win every race you'd likely still win the series.

In my opinion, Suzuka, Monaco and Nurb are the most difficult tracks. Winning on Monaco is very hard but if the tune is OK Monza could be very easy (I managed to win with Racing hard while raining). Nürb is always a lottery but the narrow track can help you if your nearest rival tastes gravel (that's quite common)and if your car handles well. Focus on doing your best and if you have more than 100 points difference with the second you can just begin the last race in Suzuka and quit it so you have the championship already in your hand.

Gearbox:I used 400 km/h as max speed but in Monaco I used 350 only.
Tip:It's better to do 20 slow laps than 1 fast lap and then crash. It's also a psychological thing.

If you're not already in the middle of the series, try taking the Formula GT for some practice laps on the circuits you're unfamiliar with. Focus on improving the parts of the lap that you're struggling with and maintaining the parts you're good at. Eventually you should be able to string together a clean, fast lap. Then it's just about trying to do this consistently.

When I did this event I didn't specifically tune any certain part of the car, everything was stock, apart from the Racing Soft Tyres. When it comes to driving aids, I had everything off, apart from:

Traction Control - 5
Skid Recovery Force - On
ABS - 1

The car is a complete monster to handle, I found, and without SRF, the race is pretty much over before it starts.

The easiest way for me to catch, overtake and pull away from the AI, was the corners. They brake quite early allowing you to dive down the inside most times, if you're close enough. Use this to your advantage.

This series consists of Six Races, all 20 laps each. If you don't have the time or patience to do them all at once, then yes. You can suspend the series which means you can come back and start from where you left off, another time. You're not able to suspend mid-race, though.

Like I said above, all of the races can be done with minimal tuning, if any, so that shouldn't really be a problem. If you're still struggling, however, you could search for a FGT tune here.

The Formula Gran Turismo is the only car you can use for this event.
