F-1 Series

Ok, I have 2 questions regarding the F-1 Series. Last night, I was running a couple of races in the F-1 league. Not the series, just individual races one by one. The reason I'm doing this is so that I can get 4 simultaneous F-1 cars when I get 100%. As BadBatsuMaru pointed out, you have a low chance of getting the colors you want when you do this. So, I'll just run the races, and then do the series winning on points. Then I'll reload to get the colors that I want.

Anyway, my first question: I was running in Seattle and I was thinking that there is no way F-1's would ever be able to race here. This track would tear a car to pieces! I was having some trouble with the railroad crossing just in front of Safeco Field. My best time in a F090/S was only 1'14.9xx; and this was only because I did a decent job of jumping off the railroad tracks into the next corner. The rest of the time, I was running 1'17's. I still won by a lap over the F094/S & F094/H. But do any of you have any tips for the railroad crossing?

My second question: When I was racing in Rome, I decided to give myself more of a challenge. I completely turned off ASM & TCS. I thought that I would be spinning all over the place. But, surprisingly, I could feel almost no difference in the car at all. My only crash was straight into the wall because I was looking at my clock instead of the road. Do any of you use ASM or TCS in the F-1's? Am I just late to the party, or am I in a minority that has tried taking off the training wheels?

For the Railroad part of Seattle, you should try softening up the spring rate. I know by experience that 1'09/1'10 is possible with the F090/S on that track.

As for the ASM/TCS. Alot of us have ASM at 0 (pretty much always), and TCS around 0,1,2 or 3 in extreme cases. You should be quicker without the ASM.

1- if u mean the jumps stop on the last onee beacaus if u jump it, ull end up flat into a wall
2- ye u do have to put new tires on them for any slppage, beacuas i think they have special tires [i think i mite be wrong]

It would, especially the staircase.

Enter the turn very wide. Use the rumble srtip on the outside of the turn and cross the tracks at a more perpendicular angle. The reduction in sideways inertia will help keep you straight into the next left. At least it works for me.

I set TCS to 1 just to get off the line quickly. ASM to 0. They limit the car. If you have a feel for the car you don't need that stuff. All they do is slow you down.

well to answer your second question turning off ASM and TCS is alright really if you go to gtvault.com and check out the setups for the f/686m and look for fumes setup its good for all f1 cars...if you use it youll be able to destroy the f1 competition.

anyway it is ok to have your ASM off but have some TCS on like level 3 or something with fumes setting youll also get some good laps like i got 54.3XX on midfeild with my f/686.

hope ive been helpful:D

actually if u hit it at an angle hit 1 tire at a time front left then front right then back left, rightu won by over a lap on seattle with the 90/s maybe i should give it a spin

To add, do not accelerate while going over the rail tracks. Reduce your acceleration to a low amount. The harder you accelerate, the more difficult time you will have trying to control the car when going over the tracks.

Once you get past this area, hit the accelerator to your heart's content. This tip works great for the S-License when using the GT40.:D

man it is easy i won by 27.238 seconds on midfield then i was on lap 10 on seattle then my controller started going out(its the one that i had to buy seperate(btw has anyone ever noticed that the controller that comes with the ps2 never breaks under normal usage)) then i had my good one under my bed by the plugin and i tapped the ps2 cord enuff to take out the power:irked: i was just behind the f094 i hit it when i twas comming out of the pit and couldnt catch up again

Only 27 seconds? :p I won by AT least a lap and a half when I did it, and I'm not a very good driver...:p

it took me about 2-4 laps to get by them cuz i had to get around the outside or i would be spun or crush into the wall then their had their hp boost and i couldnt win at grandvalley so i doing the PD cup for the 94/s lap 5 i needed tires and he was losing me

Is it just me, or did the above post not make a bit of sense?

Dozer, can you edit that with some punctuation and grammar so we can decipher it?

It's not just you. It was pathetic. Why even bother? It must be hard to be unable to communicate like that.

There's certainly no need to run all the races individually first. To use the least number of days, just do the last race, then do the series and quit before the last race.

First, you want to make sure as you come around the corner your car is positioned perfectly so don't have to turn the whole way up and you'll be between the middle and the left side at the top.

On the last bump, you want to let off the accelerator just before you come over the top, then brake hard as you land. If you actually hit the brakes before you jump it, you won't leave the ground at all, and you'll be going slower than you have to.

Or maybe you're talking about something else. I'm not sure where the railroad tracks are. The only other part I can think of that it's hard to control besides the first big hill is when you're coming into the box turns too fast and it's easy to spin.

I use ASM 0 and TCS 1 in road cars, ASM 0 and TCS 2 in F1 cars. I did use ASM 0 and TCS 3 when doing the PD Cup with the Viper Concept on Normal tires.

If I'm doing Monaco and feeling lazy, I'll use ASM 2 and TCS 4, because that makes it easier to keep from spinning when you're going through those tight turns on orange tires.

I was talking about the area between the baseball stadium & the football stadium with the railroad tracks going across the road. Safeco Field & the Kingdome. Not the staircase. But thanks.

I never thought of that. But, I've already run every race except Cote d'Azur individually anyway. :D

Just one more race, then the series. Then I'll have 100%!

Thanks everyone!

Oh, that's the part I was talking about where it's easy to spin when you're going into those turns too fast. I never noticed that bump was railroad tracks. I don't really have a problem with it on good tires. When my tires are orange, that's one of the few places I'll use the accelerator & brake at the same time. If you let off the gas, it's too easy for the back end to fly out.

Seattle has the fastest pit I know of, though. I think it adds 14 sec to the lap, so there's not much reason to be running around on bad tires.

Hmm...I'll try and translate, I usually get this having started out in this language:

It took my about 2-4 laps to get past them because I had to go around the outside or I would've spun out or crashed into the wall. They also had their horsepower boost and I didn't win at Grand Valley. I was doing the Polyphony Digital cup to get the F094/S. By lap 5 I needed tires and he was losing me.

It still sounds very odd to me anyway...:odd:

i gotta stop comming on here later than 11pm

im just saying it takes me forever to get around them because im forced to take the outside of a corner then at grandvalley my tires were just starting to get yellow and the 94 got by so im doing the pd cup now

if you know what im talking bout then ull get it... i only use grammer when it comes to me making a report on the comp during/for english sometimes typeing class too

But you went from talking about Seattle to talking about Grand Valley in the same sentence, and then going on about the PD Cup as well...it gets very confusing.

First we have:

Then we have a further clarification:

And I'll take my crack at deciphering his first post.
At Seattle, I had a tough time because the AI were brutal enough to either spin me or crush me into the wall whenever I tried to dive inside and make a pass. I was stuck for about 3-4 laps trying to make an outside pass.

At Grand Valley I had a tough time as well. Simply because the AI had gotten their mid series boost. By lap 5 I had eaten the tires badly and was losing sever time to the AI. This made me realize I'd be fighting hard for the remainder of the series. I elected at that point to exit the series and complete the PD cup to win the F094/s.

Now we have an explanation why this guy appears to be an idiot

Dozer: please realize that the only reference we have to what type of person you are is what you write here. From everything you've written here, I'll surmise that you get below average grades. It's also likely you've got a fair share of failing grades. You've managed to scrape by in school, but really don't care about it, all you want to do is get out in the real world and start making real money so you can buy a sweet car and hook-up with a phat hunny.

Pssst....Practice the phrase "Would you like fries with that?" because from everything you've posted, you're going to have a job with a plastic name tage and mom's going to drive you there.

Start exercising that walnut you call a brain.

Although circumstances prevent me from saying things the way AO elected to put them, I must heartily agree with the sentiments he expressed.

Well, if you choose not to make any modifications ie: spring rate, etc. just let off the gas when you approach them and get back on the gas after you cross. If you go in full throttle, you'll find yourself doing alot of over correcting. You may not want to tune the car too much just for those RR tracks because you may compromise handling in other corners of the track. Just take it easy over the tracks and make up the difference and out drive your opponent everywhere else. There's plenty of road to do it.
