no doubt that it is quickest of the group because of the SVT..... but on its base of it all it is the worst of the group.... as an oppinion of course...

Problem is, according to 'Four Wheeler' and 'Popular Mechanics' magazines, that the new Nissan Titan spanked the new F-150 in their comparison tests. So my vote goes to the new Titan. Besides, I've driven the new Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer (which its partially based on the new F-150), and I wasn't that impressed at all, in fact I like the 2003 Mitsubishi Montero (Pajero or Shogun in some countries) and the last geneation 4Runner than the new Expedition. So praises to the new F-150 does not necessarily reflect anything at all.

NO DOUBT. but still u shouldnt put him down on if he is young..... but of all his choices the titan is of course the best of them all...

Yes, I've sat in one. I put 300+ miles on a brand new black F-150 FX4. We'll probably be purchasing one withint the next few months.

BTW, I never said he was wrong. And, I wasn't trying to be an ass to him in the last part about the Hemi. That was more of just a general rant. I can't quit hearing about Hemi's because of all the damn new Dodge commercials, and it's driving me insane.

"Hey, that thing got a Hemi? Yer 'bout ta find out!"

Sweeeeeet!

Pickups shouldn't cost 30 000$, they shouldn't have sat-nav, leather interior, etc. A pickup is made to haul stuff, it's made to take a beating, not to go on a cruise in Beverly Hills, and look cool among the Benzes and such. Would you take your brand ****ing new F150 in the woods, to haul logs and crap like that? Pickups are a fashion statement nowadays, and they all suck as much.

Yes. I would try not to let any huge branches scrape down the side, though. Hell, I'd do that in a 10 year old F-150.

I wouldn't drive a Lincoln Blackwood in the woods, though. That's some crap you'd see some doucheface driving through Beverly Hills. Worst "truck" ever.

Because it's all they can afford? After two seconds of looking I found the cheapest new Ford F-150 to have a base MSRP of $22,010 while the cheapest Dodge Ram had a base MSRP of $17,965. And by looking at the rest of them it appears as though, except for the SRT-10(hideous), that the Dodge's are the cheaper of the two.

This isn't true - Ford is in the process of developing smaller engines to lower the base of the current F-150. In the mean time, the outgoing model will be carried over as a 2004 called the "F-150 Heritage" to fill the price gap. It starts at $19200.

The new Nissan truck could be good, I haven't driven one or seen one for that matter so I won't comment.

It's not, for about twelve thousand reasons. It's definitely not better than any of its competitors.

I figured, I mean come on Japanese trucks??? It would be like America making a good compact car that gets a million miles to the gallon.

The problem isn't even the Japanese making trucks, it's that they don't seem to realise that they will NEVER see the same share of the market that domestic makers do. One of the main problems is model flexibility - the Titan has just one engine, one bed length, and is only available in crew cab and extended cab versions. F-150 more than doubles that. Anything worth doing is worth doing right - Nissan and Toyota don't seem to get that here.

Ya plus most of the domestic crowd that like trucks buy them soloy on name. If they've driven Ford trucks all there life then thats what they'll get same as with GM's or Dodge's.

I know my dad will never drive anything other then a GM truck.

Most people from this area anyway laugh at Japanese anything but mostly at the trucks.

I dont know, Toyota trucks are really quite popular, and they even have their own nascar truck series thing, I wouldnt know the specifics cuz I hate that type of racing, but Im pretty sure theyre decent...they certainly dont look bad.

I feel that that is why the american manufacturers have such a reliability issue. They have 30 or some crazy number of different possibilities for a single chassis some times..... The amount of problems is multiplied by this IMO.

As you said... if your going to do something, do it right...... that is what the japanese manufacturers seem to have gotten here..... a reputation for reliability.

I agree, since the '70's the Japanese cars was in an uncharted territory, its the same goes today, Japanese automakers are just trying to experiment the market. So they are just trying to do a little-by-little approach on the full-size pickup market, not going on an all out war with the Detroits big three.

BTW in two years, Toyota is going to introduce a heavy duty version of the Tundra, according to some magazine sources.

DPR, why can't you post all of those 4 posts in to one long posts.

Dang, you really try to increase you post #'s

ive driven both a ram and an f-150, the F-150 being my dad's and the ram being a friends. I found the lighter f-150 topick up much much faster than the ram and i could reach decent speeds with little to no turbulence. The ram on the other hand was slow getting up and had a lot of turbulence but i could feel less of the road. Anyways heres the stats for the new F-150 XLT 4x4 Super Cab

MSRP: $37,580
Engine: 5.4 L 16V V-8 pumping 231HP@4750RPM
Torque: 293 ft. lbs.@3500RPM

For the SVT Lightning:

Engine: Superchaged V8 360HP@4750RPM
Torque: 450ft. lbs.@3000RPM
0-60: 5.5 secs
0-100: 13.8 secs
Top Speed: 139 MPH
1/4 Mile: 14 secs.

Agreed. This isn't true at all in cities, but sixty percent of trucks are sold in rural areas - that's about 31.2 million vehicles, and it's a market that Japan can't conquer, no matter what they do.

That's most of what's to do with it. Japan also needs to realise (Toyota understands this) that American truck owners don't necessarily want 'manliness' from their trucks - Nissan seems to think that's all they want. The Nissan Titan will go down as another Toyota T100. Never heard of it? That's the point.

I'll kill you.

The '04 "Heritage" is a bunch of god damn leftover '03 F-150's they couldn't sell, so they're passing it off as a new truck. Anyhoo, it's still more than the damn Ram so I was right. Or something.

Ignore this post. Ignore them all.
