I was hoping that eventually you wouldn't have to buy a new game every year and you could just download all the new changes like team cars colours and tracks for a small fee...... Its most likely if they are going to make another that it will be for F1 season 2008..
But no news as I can see at the moment...

I heard that Sony havnt renewed the F1 license contract..
So for all we know there could be an intense battle for it going on behind the scenes
Although its highly rumoured EA will get it.

Dear god no!
Don't let EA get it! the last time they had it was 2001, and it kinda sucked... it got so much better when Sony took it in 2002..... maybe thats why this last one was called Championship Edition because they didn't know if another would follow.....
Also if EA get it it will be multiplatform which means not as much effort put into the PS3 version to max it!

"With the current license between FOM (Formula One Management) & Sony now expired the future of the formula One series is currently unknown.
Rumours are abound that the EA may regain the license. Microsoft may also be interested in gaining the license especially with the involvement it already has in the sport supplying ECU's. It's also possible that Sony may regain the license at a reduced cost than in previous years.
With the series on current hiatus Forumla One 2007 is currently not in development as no one has the license for the series."
