Oh well, I'd get the cars regardless of whether it's DLC or not.

Still waiting on news of a release date for the online game coming in spring...

...Maybe you'll get to bring your created team into F1 2012 :insert smiley of a guy with crazy high expectations here:

Wasn't it put out the other day that CM didn't sell like they wanted with F1 2011 and Dirt 3? If so you could be right about them trying to make quick cash. Thus an incentive to buy f1 2012

Classis cars would be great. But would you be able to play a season in them or only use them in time trial. Frankly it'd be great to live out the 1998 season.

Classic F1 would be a hell of a spinoff that would rake money in for Codies...

ive been thinking about getting into this, but a game a year that seems extreme. Is updating every year really worth it?

Not when you consider there will be no support for that game when it's patched after release. This has really turned me off of Codies and thier F1 games.

They need to employ a support department instead of abandoning a game after releasing one patch which made the game worse. :banghead:

Am I the only one that thinks they are doing a DLC of classic F1 cars prior to release date just to get a few more bucks when they could release the game with them initially? or am I missing something here?
They did something similar with DIRT 3, which wasn't too popular. They started releasing additional content every two weeks, most notably the Monte Carlo stages, claiming that they didn't want to overwhelm new players by including the ultra-difficult stages in the game that was launched. And they weren't asking an extortionate amount of money for it, either.

That's the problem I've had with the yearly games for a while now - why should I shell out my hard-earned money for this year's game when I can wait until next year's game and get more content. Compare F1 2011 with what we know about the 2012 season and ask yourself what really changed? F1 2012 will have the full driver line-ups and rule tweaks, but the only really new feature will be the Circuit of the Americas. Bahrain and Hockenheim will be included (at the expense of Istanbul and the Nurburgring), so is one new circuit and the ability to play as Kimi Raikkonen instead of Rubens Barrichello really worth it? especially when the 2012 cars are so ugly?

And why should we spend money on F1 2012 when F1 2013 will likely have even more content? Paul Ricard and Argentina are believed to be coming back to the calendar, which is rumoured to allow for up to 24 races (so Spa might not go at all), while New Jersey will be included. And again, rule changes and driver line-ups, while the AI and graphics will no doubt get better and better. Even then, we could wait until 2014, when there will be a major overhaul of the rules, new races, and the possibility of an extra team (Lola Cars have said they're working on joining in 2014 when the new engine regulations are introduced).

That's exactly why I haven't bought an F1 game, yet because I'm waiting for the big one which is essentially one that has multiple older cars.

.

I know I bought all the DLC and then I was presented with a complete edition for a less than a 3rd of all the money I spent. And thats why I named the thread like I did.

If you want improved graphics just buy the PC one, it comes through quite nice especially with a great graphics card.

Yeah, but the "complete edition" didn't come out for about a year, and the online mode had suffered a serious drop-off in players by then.

At least their listening to the community. Ive wanted classic F1 in the new game, just like the rest of you. I don't have a problem with it being a DLC.

Well, to be frank: if they'd release F1 1994 DLC...like the complete 1994 season...I'd gladly pay 30-40€ in a heartbeat. Many players would. Nothing wrong with releasing official "mods", so to say. Actually, I'd like to see this - so that a single game has a lot more to offer.

Well Ive been thinking and I guess the title doesnt apply to this on because if you buy F1 2012 you get all the drivers, cars and tracks from 2012 and the rest is infact extra content...

I think anything that is developed and made before the game is released should be included in the game. If they find ways to make the game better and then develop more content, that's fine for DLC.

I don't think I would pay more then 20$ for it, unless you could do career mode/online/co-op with the cars.

I have a idea how about they make one game within the next few years . Then they constantly update that game every year releasing cars from the next season . This would be all through download from the psn store. They could add new features to that one game instead of making a new game every year. Codemasters would be able to make more bug fixes making the game more playable.

That's a really good idea. I'd prefer it then buying a disc every year. But the file size for a constantly updating game might get to large (not a technical wizard so I'm not sure about this).

Well, the engine would largely remain the same - but the models etc. would need updates and that's what taking most disc space away.
