F1 Cars in the game?

seeing that so much video on the game features a lot of F1 champions, and indeed the trophies have you beating a few F1 records, this gives me great hope an F1 car may appear at some time..If not, would love the Polyphony open wheelers to work on in the livery editor.

Your thoughts please..
 
You will not see F1 cars added to the game and called F1 cars, because codemasters have the franchise, that means that no other game can use the F1 name, logo nor any of the cars liveries etc.

They could in theory add "Formula A" which looks a bit like an F1 car and make their own liveries, but they'd have to be careful and get the nod from the legal people.

This isn't true: look at the Forza Motorsport series or Assetto Corsa.
 
In that case they must have paid FOM royalties. F1 and its logo are trademarks, if you want to use them you have to pay.

I understood that Codemasters had exlcusive rights for video games, I guess that isn't the case.
 
Ferrari have, and Renault presumably do too, have control over their commercial IP. That has been a stipulation of Ferrari for a long time.
 
i think Forza and Assetto get away with it as they only have the one car ...GT5 & GT6 had just the Ferrari ?? So this way they weren't racing against other F1 cars.
