Hi I have three polyphonne 001's and acording to the diffrent sites, I should have diffrent cars. They all cost the same to sell 875,000 credits. So I'm not sure if the european version has other F1 cars. Can anyone help??? Please email me!!! or leave a message. Thanks. ;)

Hi,

Yes there is the Polyphony 002 which you can win by doing the Seattle 100 Miles - easy is only 40 laps, takes about 58 minutes.

Cheers

Nathan :p

Unfortunately these are the only two available in the PAL version. I am thinking of playing my NTSC version from scratch now just to get all the different F1 cars!

Oh yeah I saw that one, I almost got it, not sure if its better than polyphonne 001??? How far have you got on yours??? And any advice on what to do with the F1 championship?

thanks

The Polyphony 001 is better than the Polyphony 002.

Use the Poly 001 for Formula GT Championship. It's not as testing as I thought it would be...slightly disappointing I must say.

I wonder if anyone thinks that the different colour models actually have different handling characteristics? I know each has the same spec.

I've got 2 Poly 001s and 2 Poly 002s, but I haven't yet had a chance to see if any particular colours are better.

To be honest, I'm finding Formula GT hard, I've got two spaking new Polyphone001 and I'll give it a go soon. What about you? Any thoughts to share about the final championship?

Just keep nice straight lines, especially if taking on a bit of trail braking into tight harpin turns, rear brakes tend to lock and turn in to gentle oversteer. However if you get back on the gas too early it's easy to lose time by powersliding - looks spectacular but is not cohesive to fast lap times. You can either dial in some more front brake, and risk the opposite occurring or just don't go in TOOOO late.

Okay, apart from learning the car (be careful not to underestimate the grip you can get out of the f1 cars) and the tracks, you can change the set up to get a bit more out of the car.

Firstly, I generally take the ASM all the way down to 0. This gives more power, but without really losing much handling.
Similarly, with TCS. I usually take TCS down to between 0 and 5, depending on how many slow corners there are on the track (and so much I'm going to need some traction control). I find that turning TCS off really does affect the handling significantly (in a bad way!).

Secondly, I look at gear ratios. On Cote D'Azur, for example, I shorten the ratios quite a lot, because I won't be needing as much top-end speed.
On the Test Course race (no. 6 I think), you should lengthen the gear ratios, raise the ride height, reduce the downforce, and turn off ASM & TCS completely.

Generally, it might help to use an f1 car on one of the endurances first. This is a good way of getting some time in that car, and getting used to the weird handling. You'll also get through the endurance in super-quick time!

Is that the only race where the P 002 is awarded?

As far as I know, I think so. When I completed the seattle 40 laps, I saw the car but didn't get it. The guide on the net don't tell you which version of the polyphonne you get. Just that its a polyphonne.

I ran that series in a Poly 001 and didn't have any real problems (lapped the field in a couple of races) - it was a bit disappointing, really. There was better racing in the one-make series.

The key to doing well in this series is tyre strategy. In the first couple of laps get an idea of how long the tyres will last, and try to arrange your pit stops so that you get full use out of your last set.

For example - for a 20 lap race, you might find you can make your tyres last 6 laps - but stopping on laps 6-12-18 is inefficient as you don't get best use of your tyres. You therefore have the option of going easy on the tyres to make them last 7 laps (meaning you only need to stop on laps 7 and 14), or stop on laps 5-10-15 (meaning you make the same number of stops but get better grip for the same number of stops)

Enjoy!
