I was fortunate to witness the Red Bull Legends Parade warm up after the F1 qualifying session in Austria last week.
I've been an F1 fan since the early 1980s but it was the first time I'd heard 'proper' F1 engines in the flesh - Oh my!! Bring them back!!

Also got to hear a few other classics, but damn people standing up in the stands ruined the videos
 
The P34 is awesome. In the 70's, engines were roaring like lions, not screaming like hysterical kittens - but it's just my 2 cents :)

The two P34s they ran sounded great - very raw sound. Brabham BT52 was pretty quiet, as was the 312T, but they weren't getting driven as hard as the other legends cars on the parade (on the warm up day anyway)

I'd love to see and hear them again at another circuit
 
I love V10s, but the high revs loose they're aggressive scream above 14,000 rpm. Go V8 :D
 
First time I heard F1 cars was at Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2016. You get to see and hear pretty much all generations of cars there so would recommend if you haven't been. However, you don't get to see them go at full speed apart from the shoot-out cars due to nature of the Hillclimb being too risky to push cars fully.

First time I heard an F1 car go at speed was actually a fellow gamer driving a Williams FW33 on Magny-Cours GP Circuit in 2018. I never thought I'd get to see that era of car on a race circuit so it was surreal also knowing my first and maybe only time driving on a circuit by myself will be also in that car.

That V8 Cosworth sounded incredible (Original engine was first to hit 20,000 RPM on track! The 2011 ones were limited to 18,000 RPM and this one further to 16,000 RPM which is kind of the rev limit FIA want for 2030 / 2031 as it seems the sweet spot for this type of engine.). You can still hear it all around the circuit quite clearly, it is so loud. I resorted to covering my ears / earplugs as it could hurt hearing especially when nearest to it. I think that is the better things about the V6 power units is that they are less likely to damage anyone's hearing.

I recorded footage with my phone at the time, Sony Xperia XZ1, which was capable of decent audio recording quality.



I finally saw an F1 GP in 2022 at Silverstone. The new cars at that time sounded more modern and sophisticated and looked a lot better but are so large and heavy.
 
I was lucky enough to go to the Ferrari 60th anniversary event at Silverstone back in 07.

Being able to stand next to the fences around the Copse/Maggots/Becketts section and feeling those V10s was insane.

Goodwood around that time (Lewis was just starting out) was amazing too.

I think Lewis was meant to be driving the day I went but ended up with a substitute driver which was disappointing.
