F12007 or F10?

I was thinking about buying one but im not sure which. Is there a reason why the F12007 costs about 2.5mill more? Does it handle differently?

I'm also really curious about the camera angles. I've seen vids of a sort of top view for the F12007, does the F10 have somethin similar?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I'm thinking because the F2007 is the championship winning car (unlike the F10), its abit more costly. I'm about to purchase it myself though so I'll let you know what it handles like. Drove the F10 though, lots of grip but for instance at a track like Suzuka, you have to have some quick reaction time with it.

F2007 costs more since it is better. F1 regulations changed engines from V12 to V8, etc. I think they are level 40 A/B spec rewards, so might not be worth it

Wrong.

The F2007 has the same engine as the F10 but the regulations allowed 19,000rpm limit rather than the 18,000rpm the F10 has so it produces marginally more power. The F10 should be faster overall.

The F10 is much better then a F2007 in real world.

While the F2007 has superior aerodynamics, the F10 has a stronger engine (Teams updatet their engines, Ferraris V8 package produces about 750hp, eventhough they limited rpm) and slick tires.
The slick tires are a big improvement over Bridgestones poor grooved tire compound.

During in season tests before the 2008 spanish GP, teams were allowed to use the slick tires for the first time and their cars were immediatly about 2-3 seconds faster.

The fastest F1 car of all time is a F2004 (I wonder why they didn`t include this beast), but the fastest cars of the 2010 season where sometimes able to beat the lap times set by the F2004 (Eventhough some people forget, that the 2004 qualy system was one of the worst of all time, race fuel + one lap restrictions; this season they didn`t qualified with race fuel anymore), while the 2006-2009 cars were way off the pace.

Nope. Both cars are available at Level 24.

I think Starkrush meant they are prize cars at level 40. Can anyone else confirm?

Regarding where you can drive them, someone in the 1.05 update thread said they could now use their Ferrari F1 car (I forget which one) in the Dream Car event, which presumably means any event, restrictions permitting, but that could've been BS, not seen any other confirmation.

I was looking up lap times on the official F1 site and every race had the 2007 cars faster than 2010. Can someone else verify that? I'm actually planning on the F10 though because the cockpit view is clearer. I just really hope the leaderboards separate F2007 and F10. (Does anyone know, if they're up yet?)

I've read other posts where people have said they prefer the F2007, not sure why though. In terms of all out speed, how do 2007 F1 season laptimes compare to those of 2010 on a given circuit? With all the changes in regulations I know performance goes up and down somewhat. Some of the old turbocharged cars for example are very fast, even by "modern" standards.

Everything you said was right except this. The 2010 F1 cars generate more downforce than any era in the history of F1, despite the FIA constantly changing the regulations to reduce the downforce significantly. The engineers claw all the downforce back and more throughout the year.

Also, the engines have been frozen since 2007 and I believe only Renault has been allowed to make changes to their engines, so the engine in the F10 is identical to that of the engine in the F2007 except it has a lower rev limit.

Overall, the F10 has better rubber and 3 years more aerodynamic knowledge behind it, creating more downforce and should be the better car. It also has a lower rev limit, much larger fuel tank and much longer wheelbase to accommodate the fuel tank. Whether the game accurately portrays that, I don't know.

I imagined the F2007s aero was more extensive, but due to the ribbed tires it couldn't put enough physical grip to the track like the F10 could

Can anyone who can actually drive (Or own) both of them, Either Review them both, or simply drive them around a track to see which ones faster?

just be warned that you cannot use either car in any a spec or b spec events.

Good, because that would be cheating. I don't want to buy the F10 or F2007 and win every single thing effortless.

In real life, the F10 would be ahead of the F2007. Power is about the same ,but with the newer regulations, the cars produce less drag, and with aerodynamic development, the cars now produce about the same if not more downforce than they did in 2007, plus the slick tyres which provide a significant increase in mechanical grip. In the game, i'm not sure.

I have them both in the game.

I WOULD RECOMMEND PAY THE EXTRA MONEY FOR THE F2007. They made it cost more for a reason. It's better; it's faster. I will almost guarantee that your lap times will be faster with the F2007.

The one thing that hasn't been considered is that the F10 is heavier than the F2007, like significantly heavier. The F2007 will eat up corners that the F10 just doesn't seem to be able to make.

The F10 should only be 15kg heavier. At least that's how it is in real life.

Here is the comparision. Pole in the 2010 race, p3 in 2007
2010
2007
F10 is 6 tenths of a second faster.

👍 The F10 in real life is superior to the F2007 in performance. There is no argument there. The only debate now is if its superior in the game.

Yes, but they don't have it right in the game, though.

IN the game:

F2007 545 kg
F10 620 kg

Interesting.. Looks like the F2007 is the better car in game, when in real life the story is quite the opposite. 👎

yeah, in GT5 the F2007 is more than 10% lighter, so in game play it is basically impossible to overcome that kind of weight difference.

sad thing was that there was no way to tell this until ground out 22,500,000 credits and bought them both, but i was absolutely dying to know which one was better.

i guess you can't get everything right, but this seems like a pretty big error considering they are both probably in the top 5 best cars in the game.

Yeah it does make me wonder too. It's one thing to get something wrong or mixed up in 30 miatas but getting the weight completely wrong in one of the few F1 cars in the game is kinda strange.

But dunno. Maybe for PD the cars are just cars and they don't make such kind of distinction.

lol, ain't that the truth..

first time i saw someone say there were 30 miatas in the game i thought they were joking.

Don't forget the F2007 used grooved tyres unlike the F10, and they give something like 17% extra grip, although i highly doubt that has been implemented into the game.
I still look forward to owning them both! :)

Have any of you considered that maybe Ferrari isn't that talkative about the weight of their most prized racecars? I mean sure you can find info about them on the internet, but I don't know anyone at Ferrari nor have I read the FIA rules for F1, so I can't say for sure how much the f2007 or the f10 weighs, so maybe PD made an educated guess on that part.
