I've seen some threads sort of on this topic, but I'm not sure if they're specifically looking for a wireless headset, so here goes.

The F540 can be converted to run 3.5 or Stereo RCA, even optical, and it's wireless to the headphone itself. But there is a feature called a 'sidetone' which means you can hear yourself speak. But otherwise, it seems pretty perfect, especially for $140-$150.

So two questions;

A. If you have an F540, and use it on a PS3 - how have you found it.

B. If you have another wireless headset that you use with the PS3 AND PC, please tell me about it, how it connects (Bluetooth, USB, ect), if it works with PS3 chat or not, ect.

EDIT: I've looked at the PX5s, which are a possible consideration, however they do use AA batteries, not rechargable, which I have a problem with, and they cost twice as much.

How about the PX3 vs. the F540?

I can find a PX3 for cheaper, ($100) and the F540 for ($140), both are stereo, but I have almost all Logitech products (wheel, keyboard, mouse, speakers), and I've heard some rumours of poor quality on occasion with Turtlebeach products.

Is the PX3 better or on par or worse? And if so, to what degree does it rate to the F540?

Go for the sony wireless stereo headset. My friend had one and they were very good for the price.

Yeah, but what about the PX3? Waiting to hear from someone who bought those... wait hang on, I didn't even mention the standard PS3 headphones, guess I should've.

The question with them is, how well do they work with a PC? Do you get atleast 5.1 surround on them? You must obviously get the full 7.1 with the PS3 + chat, but with the PC? I'll see if Youtube cane help at all.

I'm waiting to hear too as I'm in the market for a wireless set. 2 bouncy Cocker spanniels in the house.

The PX5's are on offer right now near me, down £50 to the price of the PX3's. It seems a really good offer, if they are any good. I want to be able to use them with my Ipod too, so it seems really good.

Come on audiophille guys let us know what you all think.

Would be considering the PX5s if it weren't for their AA batteries.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the F540s will be the best answer. I want them to be cheaper than $140.

best bang for buck for ps3: PS3 Wireless Stereo Headset
best headset: mixamp + pc360

"With the official PS3™ wireless stereo headset you'll hear the enemy before they see you, all in 7.1 digital surround sound1."

Gives you virtual dolby (7.1 channels for immersion).

Is like mixamp but cheaper :)

Or you can get mixamp + dt990/q701/edition8 :)
but those are not headsets

It appears PC360 isn't wireless? Off the list then.

mixamp... OH you mean the 'Astro A40' very difficult to follow your 'pluses' which seem redundant.

so mixamp dt990... seems you need a cable for PS3 chat?

mixamp q701, can hardly find it, seems also wireless?

mixamp edition 8, returns nothing.

Look, thanks for the ideas, if you could be a little more specific with the models, and make sure that they are all wireless, and all compatible with the PC and PS3, don't care about 360.

Other than the PS3 wireless headset, anything else? Again PX5s as much as Like them are out because they have AA batteries (and cheapest I can find them is $190). F540s are also an option, but they seem to be only stereo, if they can simulate 5.1/7.1 then they'd be better than than the PS3s (imo).
