Ive just started to notice these more and more... and they are really annoying. Not only do they show up everywhere, but also in secure pages because i noticed one of them as i was changing my info on a website.

Is there something up yet to disable/block these irritating things yet. I already have adblock+

You could use noscript(I think it's only for Firefox) but it can be annoying to use since it blocks every script including flash, java, and etc.

I see. Do websites give these adds permission? Or are they just that intrusive to where they just activate anywhere there is a commonly used word or phrase which is used in whatever advert it chooses.

Just sign out of GTP and start browsing. I just did on firefox and lots of words are marked with dashed underline and link to something called findweblinks .com.

Mind taking a screen shot of what you are talking about?

Yeah, im about to upload it right now....
Sadly im at a college and they severely handicap upload speeds. Flickr is trying its damnedest to handle 480kb. lolol

They're paid advertising, as in, the site owner is paid to implement them. You make them go away on GT Planet by going premium. As for other sites, well, it depends on the site. Usually you can't.

Personally I find them to be a major nuisance. I go to a site to read content, not have the content being blocked by ads every time I move the mouse. I will leave a site if it gets annoying enough. However, as the OP observes, it's getting increasingly widespread.

The worst is now in android apps they are allowed to send you push notification ads. These regular computer type ads aren't too bad but on your phone receiving a notification that has a image of a envelope the exact style the real mail apps have is such a scam since it clearly is trying to trick you into opening it.

If you have ADBlock +, go into the filter preferences menu and toggle "Allow some non-intrusive advertising" off. That is the only thing I think could be causing this, as I have ABP and no such ads.

I did not find this "toggle". But i did download another list, Fanboys ABP list. It appears to be holding these annoying adds at bay... for now. I actually had ABP disabled for this site until i noticed these annoying adds, then i turned it back on with no success.

I usually turn it off on sites i respect, because without donating or paying for a membership how else are they going to get their money? But these adds, just out right piss me off lol
