well i finally sold my piece of crap known as the ford galaxy so am looking for a new family car to take its place. i currently still own the cerbera but even though its a 2+2 its still very impractical and i enjoy a bit of waterskiing every now and then so i think i'll be looking for an estate car. i have an 18 month old girl so naturally safety is high on priorities list. theres two cars which i really like, the audi RS6 Avant and volvo S60 R estate.
if anyone has any other suggestions please help out

The Volvo S60R Estate is actually called the Volvo V70R, and my suggestion is that. Can't go wrong with a 300bhp Volvo wagon... the Audi's nice too, I hear, though I've never driven one.
 
I believe that the BMW 540i wagon is in the same price range as the Audi, and the Volvo. But all are good choices. Especially if your daily driver is a Cerbera. (I am so jealous).
 
thanks for your suggestions, Gil are you refering to the new 5 series? if so i thought the estate version wasn't out yet. if it is then that could be the winner

New 5 Estate is out in mid-November, so it practically is. Nevertheless, it's sure to be hugely pricey.

Well, for reasons both rational and irrational, I would love, LOVE, to get my hands on an RS6... it's easily my favorite car in the whole world right now. Buy it! :p (Do they still make 'em in the U.K.? I think Doug mentioned that they've run out of RS6s in the U.S.)

A Mercedes E55 AMG would also be cool (though I think Duke's going to kill me for even daring to mutter that car company's name), but again for no particular rational reason other than it's fast, exclusive, and looks sleek. THe RS6 still tops my list though.
 
I like the Mazdaspeed protege. I saw one today at the mazdaspeed store in the mall. I'm still trying to figure out how they drove an RX-8 into the store.....

Heck, why not wait for the ugly new one to come out, and get the much better looking current-gen one when they cut the price on it?
 
thanks everyone for the help, after a lot of thinking i decided on the RS6 Avant. after going down to my dealer and having a test drive i was instantly hooked, the car is simply awesome and the dealer was brilliant. its being delivered tuesday so i cant wait.
heres a list of specs and extra options i chose:

RS 6 Avant 4.2 quattro 450 PS
Ebony Black, pearl effect
Black/Silver interior
Body coloured door mirrors
Drilled brake discs
Twin pane heat and UV light insulating glass
Electric slide and tilt solar sunroof

OTR Price: £61,950.00 :(
 
Sounds like a really nice car, I simply love Audis there so nice. Congrats on the new ride!
