Hmm.

I went into this expecting NOTHING. I'm not a big fan of Tom Cruise in general, and Tom Cruise as a bad guy just... doesn't seem to work. He's too short and ingratiating... :D

My expectations were met. Resoundingly.

The first few scenes - ignoring the brief Jason Statham cameo - don't involve Cruise at all. My girlfriend remarked "Oh look. Two totally unrelated plot threads"... Then it all went to hell.

Cruise's character was one-dimensional and his every move telegraphed. The police and FBI were even worse - especially when we were fed a line about a killer LA taxi driver who committed suicide. The sequence with "Felix" was utter, utter dross - only matched by a scene in a nightclub which just didn't add up in any way.

I just ran out of patience towards the end - Cruise's last job was SO obvious it couldn't have been made any plainer if it were skywritten. Oh, and he gets shot through the frickin' head - but he's well enough to chase through buildings and subway stations.

The only person who acquitted themselves well in this was Jamie Foxx. Even then, I couldn't have cared less what happened to him near the end.

Do yourself a favour. Paint something and watch it dry.

It was an Oakland cab driver. :D (I just watched the movie 40 minutes ago, by coincidence)

The odd thing about that line was that there was no precedent - anything could've been up, and the cop just happens to figure it out right there. Absurd

Saw it yesterday and now I can't figure out which one is more a waste of everything... the 25th hour or this movie... :irked:

BTW, did this win a award or something? if so... WHY... ?

Sure?

My girlfriend and I both thought he'd been shot in the head - and there was a blood smear down the left-side of his neck from the base of his ear...

Getting shot in the head or the shoulder... either way, in reality, he would not be in good shape to do any strenuous physical activity, such as chasing people through urban areas.

I think that in general, if you have a small peice of metal traveling at supersonic speeds peirece your skin, anywhere, you're going to be in quite a bit of pain. I've noticed this sort of thing a few times in The Bourne Identity. It clearly shows a man's leg being broken- litterally snapped in half - and then get up to promptly run through a window and jump over a balcony. wtf!?

I didn't think it was that bad and that Cruise played the bad guy quite well. The dialogue was good and I love the way it was shot. But that's just my opinion. And I belive that Cruise was shot in the ear/earlobe, so it was a very minor flesh wound. It would have hurt like hell but with that much adrenaline, it would not have impeded him at all. I think it was a good movie to watch once, but I don't want to see it again any time soon.

No, he's wrong - Cruise definitely got shot in the head. Neck or ear.

I'd like to refer everyone to Ev0's reply before this continues any further... :dopey:

Yep and getting shot in the ear would in no way prevent him from carrying on the chase. It should sting a bit though :).
